Exciting News! Today marks the beginning of a new era as Allwyn begins operating The National Lottery. Camelot has done a great job over the last three decades, generating over £48bn for almost 700,000 community, sport, arts and heritage projects in the UK and creating over 7,000 millionaires. We’re excited and privileged to take over the running of this national treasure. Over the next 10 years, Allwyn’s ambition is to offer more games, attract more players, inject more entertainment, create more winners, and raise more money for National Lottery-funded projects. Purple Tuesday is proud to be the Accessibility Partner of Allwyn the licence operator for #TheNationalLottery. Mike Adams and Martin Smith were guests at the #Paris2024 #Paralympics. The Lottery supports athletes to maximise potential and opportunities. But the funding of the behind the scenes support infrastructure is equally important. It is the same in terms of our partnership. Across the Team we engage with all parts of the #AllwynUK business. Ensuring online accessibility. Communications are accessible. The product experience is increasingly accessible. And that the organisation itself if represented by disabled employees. Not tokenistic but barriers removed so talent can shine and succeed. At an event at the British Embassy we were name checked. It was a clear indicator that disability matters. Had become part of the organisation’s DNA. And opened up so many other conversations. About hoe together, we can really change the disability conversation. Not just at the elite end of the sporting spectrum but for the 14.6 million disabled people in the UK going about their daily lives. Spending their precious #PurplePound demands a quality experience. The example of a #DameTanniGrey being left on a train. Having to climb down herself. Is a stark reminder how far we still need to go. The Paralympics is shining a light. Our success is making the flame burn brightly. It is what we do next that matters. #PurpleTuesday will continue to work every day with Allwyn UK to drive together the changes needed. We will continue to work with any organisation committed to disability inclusion. It is about 1,400 days to the next Games in #LosAngeles. Let’s see then how far we have actually come. Disability in the limelight. We like it. Happy Tuesday. #UntoldStory #DisabilityConversation31 #BeASue #AccessibilityAwareness #DisabilityInclusion #EqualAccess #DisabilityAwareness

Ellie Challis wins gold in the women's S3 50m backstroke final at Paris 2024, with three-time Paralympic champion, Ollie Hynd MBE, cheering her on from Colchester Phoenix Amateur Swimming Club, a registered charity which provides swimming opportunities for people with disabilities.   With a gold medal to bring back to the Club, Ollie believes that Challis' success in the 50m backstroke can only inspire her former teammates to go on and achieve their own sporting success. "That is the essence of the Paralympics, it's that legacy," he said. "It's about inspiring people and about inspiring change." Thanks to National Lottery players our #Olympic & #Paralympic athletes are supported to train full time. With more than £30M a week raised for Good Causes, The National Lottery has enabled ParalympicsGB to become a global force in Para Swimming, and has provided more opportunities for people – inspired by athletes like Ellie – to take part in the sport. #TheNationalLottery #Paris2024 ParalympicsGB International Olympic Committee – IOC

We’re delighted that Mike Adams, CEO of Purple Tuesday, Allwyn’s accessibility Partner, is joining us at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.   We put Social Value at the heart of everything we do and it’s a pleasure to work with Purple Tuesday and Mike to boost inclusivity across the business - from accessible games, to the overall employee and customer experience.    At Allwyn, we’re incredibly proud of the huge role that National Lottery funding plays in supporting our paralympic athletes on the global stage, and how elite sport in turn accelerates disability conversations.    We hope you have an amazing time in Paris, Mike!   #Paris2024 #Paralympics #SocialValue

Jack. You need to touch it. If you don’t. Your games are over. Today. Training it to the #Paralympics. Talking mode of transport rather than being an athlete. But the memories remain vivid. I was 12. Competing at #StokeMandeville. The birthplace of the #Paralympic movement. Where the flame for the Paris games was lit by the International Paralympic Committee. The jack is the white ball in carpet bowls. I was on the verge of being eliminated in the first round. Heading to the #Paris2024 #Paralympics in my role representing Purple Tuesday. The Accessibility Partner for Allwyn UK who operate #TheNationalLottery. Proud of the partnership. #AllwynUK put social value at the heart of what they are doing. Close involvement. And engagement. From pre-tender stage. And now across all and every part of their business. From accessible employment. Accessible scratchcards. Accessible communications. Online accessibility. National Lottery funding will help accelerate the changing of the disability conversation. Through elite sport and its ripple effect. The chatterings this week have all been about competition. Winners. Medals. With friends. Family. Colleagues. Not about representation per se. And the undercurrent victorious vulnerable people and superheroes. Personally in 2012 the positive exposure quickly evaporated. And what could have been a catalyst. Didn’t really happen. So consider yourselves #DisabilityAllies. Watch. Post. Comment. Perhaps buy a lottery ticket. I will see first-hand end to end investment of the Team. The glory. A reminder of the time, effort and vision put in to creating a sustainable disability inclusive ecosystem. Deep breath. And here’s hoping. If I had more than one finger they would be crossed. For the record. I did touch the jack. Somehow made it through the round and won the whole thing. The unknown incredible comeback story. Perhaps they should make the film. I have the VHS video tape somewhere. Perhaps not. Forward to Paris Friday. #UntoldStory #PurpleTuesday #DisabilityConversation31 #BeASue Image Description: A photo of Mike standing by and about to board the Eurostar train at Kings Cross St Pancreas Station which is bound for Paris and the Paralympics.

Gold medal-winning Kylie Grimes MBE PLY knows first-hand how far funding from The National Lottery can take an athlete. Today, Kylie spoke at Leicester Tigers Wheelchair Rugby Club, where she took part in a session with members from across the club showcasing the sport’s skills and intricacies. Since its debut at the 1996 Atlanta Games, wheelchair rugby has become one of the main attractions at the Paralympics. Kylie, who was part of Great Britain’s winning team at Tokyo 2020, said “National Lottery funding just helps for years and years and years”, noting how it facilitates training, competitions abroad for elite athletes, and grassroots activity. Thanks to National Lottery players, more than £30 million a week is raised for Good Causes, alongside more opportunities for people inspired by athletes to take part in sport. #Paris2024 #Paralympics #GoodCauses ParalympicsGB

A team of National Lottery winners from across Scotland recently teamed up with environmental charity, Keep Scotland Beautiful, to clean-up microplastics and litter from Troon Beach.    The National Lottery winners - with a combined wealth of almost £100M - volunteered to spend a morning scouring the Scottish coastline for litter and tiny pieces of plastic waste which can be harmful to visitors and wildlife.    By getting involved in any National Lottery game, players generate £30M each week for National Lottery-funded projects, helping to fund projects across the nation - both big and small.   #SocialValue #GoodCauses #Volunteering

To celebrate the Olympic and Paralympic Games, The National Lottery teamed up with Channel 4 and UK Athletics to look behind the scenes at what it takes to become a top athlete on the road to Paris 2024. The second instalment of the two-part series, Path to Paris: Paralympic Dreams, will air this Sunday 25th August at 4:55pm on Channel 4, and on Monday 26th at 10pm. This episode follows the mental and physical preparations of Paralympic athletes and provides unique insights into their run-up to the Paris 2024 Games. As operators of The National Lottery, we recognise the value of showcasing the huge difference players make by simply buying a ticket. It’s been fantastic to witness how the National Lottery contributes to the transformation of elite sport during the Olympic Games, which is only set to continue with the Paralympics next week. Don’t forget to tune in! #Paris2024 #Paralympics #TheNationalLottery

Today we’re wishing the ParalympicsGB athletes good luck ahead of #Paris2024.    After Team GB’s thrilling performance at the Olympics, we’re so excited to see our Paralympics GB athletes in action, competing at the highest level of elite sport after years of hard work and dedication. All National Lottery players tuning in to watch have played their part in the athletes’ journey to Paris, every ticket bought has helped fund over 1,000 athletes who are currently on UK Sport’s World Class Programme. Crucially, this has allowed them to train full-time and provided access to the world’s best coaches and pioneering technology.   We’ll be cheering ParalympicsGB on to victory next week! #TNLAthletes #TheNationalLottery #Paris2024 International Olympic Committee – IOC
