Paris Marathon 13th April 2025! Is this on your marathon bucket list? 🇫🇷 The @parismarathon Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris is now one of the biggest marathons in the world and perfectly combines a personal challenge with the chance to discover one of the world's greatest cities. Race day will see you pound the pavements of the French capital's most famous avenues and plazas. Starting at the foot of the Arc de Triomphe, and finishing with views of Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower to guide you home. Every year, this unique and spectacular setting attracts more and more entrants. There are now more than 23,000 runners from abroad, making up 40% of the field. We are beyond grateful to the amazing Tigers Children’s Motorcycle Display Team for raising an incredible £2,000 for Alfie’s Wish this year! These talented children, along with their dedicated families, have spent the event season touring the country, entertaining audiences with their thrilling and fun-filled performances. But it’s so much more than just a show. The Tigers create a space where kids can also learn important life skills like discipline, respect, and teamwork, all while having an absolute blast doing what they love! Training all year round, they put their hearts into every performance, and it shows. The sense of community, support, and joy they build is truly inspiring, and it’s clear how much fun they have bringing their stunts to life. We are incredibly honoured that the Tigers chose to support Alfie’s Wish this year, alongside another wonderful charity Harlee’s Angels. Their generous donation will have a huge impact on the children with cancer we support, helping us to create lasting memories and smiles during difficult times. 🏃Southampton Park Run - TAKEOVER -2nd Nov 📅 Saturday 2nd November 2024 📍 Southampton Common, The Avenue, Southampton. SO15 7NN ⏰ Starts at 9am (arrive 8.30am to run) 🏃 Run, Jog or Walk the flat 5k route ✨ Everyone welcome, FREE event 💛 Take part, volunteer or support! Parkrun is a FREE and fun event! On Saturday 2nd November 2024 Alfie's Wish and Abby's Heroes will be taking over the Southampton parkrun!! This is to mark the start of an ultra challenge called 'The Beast' that one of our charity supporters is taking on throughout the whole of November. 'The Beast' involves Dave running or walking 1 mile on the 1st November, 2 miles on the 2nd, 3 on the 3rd and so on right up until 30 miles on the 30th November!! The total daily miles can be split up, but must be completed within the 24 hour period. In total Dave would have run and walked 465 miles during November, 190 of those miles being in the last week! We would love to have as many runners, walkers and Marshalls on the course that day to help support Dave as he sets out on this phenomenal fundraiser. Let's turn Southampton Parkrun into a sea of navy and purple and support Dave as he embarks on day 2 of his unbelievable challenge. Family Friday's - A Dream Come True We are so pleased to hear Millie and her family made some incredible memories during their stay at the Port Lympne last month. This once-in-a-lifetime adventure was made possible thanks to the generosity of our amazing supporters and a special partnership with Abby's Heroes together, we created a truly unforgettable experience for Millie! Millie’s mum, Vicky, shared some heart-warming words about their trip: “I just want to say a huge thank you! For our stay in the Tiger Lodge. We had an amazing time seeing all the animals, and the grounds were so beautiful. We had a fun-filled, packed day scooting around in the golf buggy. The safari was brilliant, seeing the animals in so much space and the animals were well looked after. All the staff were friendly and helpful, it was just the best experience. Many thanks for organizing our stay Alfie's Wish and Abby's Heroes —it really was a dream come true!" 💛 💜 We can’t wait to continue making more dreams come true with your help. Whether it’s children experiencing everyday struggles or those battling life-threatening illnesses like cancer, mental health care is essential. In the UK: - 1 in 6 children aged 5-16 experience a mental health disorder, with issues like anxiety, depression, and behavioral challenges becoming increasingly common. - For children with cancer, these challenges are even greater. The emotional strain of living with cancer—fear, uncertainty, and isolation—deeply affects their mental health. - Siblings of children with cancer also face emotional challenges, often feeling overlooked or overwhelmed as the family focuses on the sick child or worse they become a bereaved sibling. 💬 Checking in on children—whether they’re going through everyday struggles or something as serious as cancer—can make all the difference.
