Mental health charity Mind recently used a post to urge the Prime Minister to prioritise mental health in the upcoming #Budget. It reminded Sir Kier Starmer and his government that mental health is now people's biggest #health concern on a worldwide basis, surpassing cancer. It also pointed to the stat that over half of British people believe mental health is one of the biggest health problems facing the country. We'd like to echo Mind's call for mental health to receive far more attention in the Budget. The government has talked a lot about reforming the NHS, rather than throwing more money at it, but there is still a real need to invest more. Equally, developing a far greater understanding of mental health waiting times - which at the moment can be patchy - will help us to know how many people are waiting and provide solutions to get these service users treated much sooner. Rt. Hon. Wes Streeting MP, The Labour Party, Stephen Kinnock
Mental health has just topped the list of biggest health concerns, according to the 2024 Ipsos Global Healthcare Monitor study. 🧠 Every year 1 in 4 of us in Britain will experience a mental health problem. 🏥 Over 2 million people are waiting for NHS mental health services in England. 🔹 Since 2017 the number of young people struggling with mental health has almost doubled. It was great to see mental health prioritised in the King's Speech in July. Now we need to see action.

Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay, with this year's theme being: “It is time to prioritise mental health in the workplace". Something we can all get on board with. We place a key focus on supporting our employees' #wellbeing, and doing all we can to foster a positive, collaborative, supportive work environment. With #burnout an increasing issue in the UK, and globally, it's more important than ever that a good work/life balance is sought - and that employees and employers work together to achieve this. Coincidentally, this week is also National Work Life Week 2024, an annual campaign that encourages employers and employees to talk about work-life balance and wellbeing at work.

For the second summer in a row, we were delighted to welcome undergraduates from Imperial College London to join us for a day as part of the university’s work shadowing scheme. In our latest #blog, we explain why we took part and get feedback from the students in their own words. It’s a fantastic, rewarding #scheme to be a part of, and we look forward to continuing our partnership next year. A big thank you to the students who joined us in our Work.Life offices – we wish you all the best for the future! And a special thanks to Lucy Mills, Jermaine Trotman and Matthew Lane for their excellent work in hosting them! This month is ADHD Awareness Month. As we've seen in recent news stories, waits for #ADHD treatment are often very high and people are waiting far too long to be seen. What's more, the #data surrounding ADHD waits is very poor, so it is hard to get a really true picture of just what we're dealing with. It's something we explored in more detail in a recent blog: https://lnkd.in/eZZbRkUZ Given this, it's arguably more important than ever that we improve #awareness around ADHD, to ensure that people start to be seen in a far more timely manner - and that the need for better support, understanding, access and resources is recognised.

Last Thursday, we invited our final Imperial College London Work Shadowing Scheme student of the summer. (Hannah) yuqing wei, a second-year studying Biomedical Technology Venture, joined us at our Work.Life Fitzrovia office. During the day, she had the opportunity to engage with Acumentice’s team and observe their daily operations. In a conversation with Lucy Mills, our Director of Operations, she gained insights into how the company functions, how different departments collaborate, and the roles within consulting and operations. She also joined staff meetings, contributing to discussions on marketing strategies, and learning about target and KPI setting. She was fascinated by how every individual at the company plays an essential role, like parts of a large machine - each vital to the overall function. Additionally, Hannah spoke with Jermaine Trotman, our Product Executive, who introduced her to Acumentice’s products in more detail. She was impressed by how these tools improve productivity, reduce patient waiting times, and enhance the accuracy and quality of data. "This experience was incredibly valuable for me, as it was my first time stepping into a corporate environment beyond the academic world," Hannah said. "I was also pleased to meet everyone at Acumentice, who were very warm and welcoming." She added: "From the moment I entered the office, I felt Lucy’s kindness and appreciated her care and guidance throughout the day. I was grateful for the support and help I received from the entire team." Great to you have on board, Hannah! And we were all mightily impressed with the presentation of your robot project that you showed us during the day. Keep up the good work!

🎂 Acumentice celebrates 10th birthday! 🎂 Yes, we've reached 10 years old. And to mark this special milestone, our Founder and Managing Director, Karina Malhotra, has penned a blog outlining how the company started, the challenges and achievements along the way, and where we plan to go in the future. "The past 10 years have been an incredible journey, and while we’re proud of how far we’ve come, we know there’s still so much more we can achieve," Karina says. "We remain dedicated to playing our part in creating a healthier NHS, a healthier #country, and ultimately, a healthier #world. Here’s to the next decade of making a difference – together."
