In Q1 of 2023, we were appointed by Omexom UK as the main civils contractor on the construction of a new 400kV substation in Biggleswade, on behalf of National Grid. Works are now approaching completion and over the last 3 months we have delivered the following: - Constructed the foundations of a new reinforced concrete slab for water tank - Constructed the foundation slab for the arrival of battery room LVAC room and comms room - Installation of a new high-pressure water main - Construction of new amenities foundation bases - Installation of a new oil draw off and carrier pipes below ground - Grouting of 145 columns - Construct and lay 3000-tonne of chippings. - Lay 140 tonne of construction screed for the SGT bunds - 150,000m2 of ground aggregation and seeding to commence over the next few weeks - Installation of 18 lighting column bases and associated ducting/earthing. We have previously worked with Omexom UK on a variety of projects across the UK and enjoy a strong working relationship together. Congratulations to three of our ACS team members for smashing the Siemens Energy Challenge 2024 and raising money for a fantastic cause! ACS’s Michael Stott MRICS, Adrian Henderson and Matthew Melia competed against 11 other teams in a series of outdoor challenges designed to push them to their limits in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. The challenges included water events, climbing walls, orienteering and plenty of other tough tests. We are delighted to share that the team raised an incredible £1,570 for FACT (Fighting All Cancers Together) and the fundraising total will be matched by Siemens! FACT (Fighting All Cancers Together) provides a range of non-clinical services to people diagnosed with cancer and their loved ones, and also offers specialised support for children and young people affected by cancer. Progress update on our project for Siemens Energy to construct a new Synchronous Condenser Grid Stability Facility at Eye (Yaxley) for Conrad Energy. Another crucial milestone has been achieved with the installation of the roof and firewall base concrete pour. Activities onsite continue as we deliver the building envelope and final of FRC works.
