About us
Able is a privately owned, ambitious and successful organisation. From its origins, in 1966, the Company is founded on the core commitments of providing a wholly reliable service, respecting the natural environment and being flexible in adapting to the ever changing needs of our clients. From being a leading and innovative specialist in complex demolition processes, the Company has developed into a major player across a number of sectors including installation yards for offshore wind turbines, recycling redundant offshore marine structures and ships, land reclamation and property & port development, specialising in renewables. ABLE operates a number of strategic sites, predominantly across the North of England, undertaking full site reclamation and associated property development. Our landholding consists of over 10,000 acres and includes a number of river frontage sites on the River Tees and the Humber Estuary where we provide project ports and logistics services. Over the years ABLE Group has been involved with many nationally significant projects and this is something about which we are very proud. Our enthusiasm to undertake ground-breaking projects is continuing with the development of the Able Humber Port (AHP) and Able Energy Park (AEP) facilities on the South Bank of the River Humber. Newcastle College Students Visit Able Seaton Port for Insightful Presentation on Able UK’s Projects! Today, students from Newcastle College visited Able Seaton Port, where they attended an informative presentation delivered by Luke Donnelly and Beth Corbett. The presentation highlighted Able UK’s past achievements, current projects, and future goals. The visiting students, who are enrolled in welding and engineering courses at Newcastle College, demonstrated a keen interest in the various sectors in which Able UK operates. Their enthusiasm was evident through the numerous questions they posed, reflecting their eagerness to learn and develop their skills. We were impressed by the students’ curiosity and engagement, their enthusiasm for learning about our industry was truly inspiring. Able UK looks forward to welcoming the next group of students in November, continuing its commitment to fostering educational growth and industry awareness among future professionals.

This is what the UK's first electric HGV charging hub will look like. ⚡ And it's happening right here, in the Humber. The new EHGV charging hub is set to open at Able Humber Port later this year. It will drive the decarbonisation of future transport and logistics across Able Humber Port, and the South Humber ports, as new electric-powered HGVs replace existing diesel fleets. Able Humber Port is one of our three freeport tax sites, providing hundreds of acres of investment land with tax and rates relief for businesses. The event, held at the prestigious Hardwick Hall Hotel in Sedgefield, promises to be an evening of insightful discussions across all energy sectors. A record number of renewable energy projects have won contracts in the sixth allocation round of the Contracts for Difference scheme, underscoring the UK Governments and Able UK’s commitment to a sustainable future through renewables. 9 Offshore Wind projects have been successful, with a combined total capacity of 4.94 gigawatts (including the two largest offshore windfarms in Europe) - Able UK is proud of its pivotal role in Offshore Wind development and maintaining Able UK ports’ esteemed reputation as the birthplace for previous and future pioneering Offshore Wind projects, including the Dogger Bank A,B and C Installation Yard at ASP pictured below: These successful projects will begin providing power from 2026 onwards, enhancing the UK’s energy independence.
