The article dwells on the Italian fighter aircrafts during the II World War. The paper describes the development of the Italian fighters, the training and tactics of the fighter pilots and potential of the Italian aviation industry. Moreover, the article concerns on Italian aviation industry. Author put an effort to explain why the early models of Italian fighter aircrafts were inferior to the majority of British fighters and why Italy was no able to compete in aviation production with its enemies. Abstrakt: Artykuł koncentruje się na problemie znaczenia geopolitycznego Morza Południowochińskiego, jak też kwestii istniejących tam sporów terytorialnych. Wyjaśnia nie tylko dlaczego wspomniany akwen ma tak duże znaczenie geopolityczne, ale również ukazuje modernizację marynarek wojennych krajów zaangażowanych w spory terytorialne na Morzu Południowochińskim. W pierwszej części artykułu omówiono strategiczny wymiar Morza Południowochińskiego, jak też spory terytorialne występujące w tym regionie. Część druga dotyczy zbrojeń morskich krajów zaangażowanych w spory terytorialne (Wyspy Spratly, Wyspy Paracelskie, Rafa Scarborough), natomiast kolejna przedstawia aktualną sytuację polityczną w regionie. Słowa kluczowe: Morze Południowochińskie, Wyspy Spratly, Wyspy Paracelskie, zbrojenia morskie. Wstęp Obszar Morza Południowochińskiego stanowi dzisiaj temat debat politycznych, dotyczących energetyki i kwestii militarnych. W tym akwenie krzyżują się interesy wielu krajów (zwłaszcza członków ASEAN), a także ma miejsce rywalizacja geopolityczna wielkich mocarstw (Chin i USA), co sprawia, że ma on znaczenie strategiczne. Rozbudowa potencjału militarnego Chińskiej Republiki Ludowej, która pociągnęła za sobą zbrojenia krajów regionu, powoduje, że Morze Południowochińskie staje się coraz bardziej istotnym punktem na geopolitycznej mapie świata. Krzyżują się na nim szlaki morskie kluczowe dla gospodarek państw Azji Południowo-Wschodniej, Chin, Japonii i Korei Południowej, a także państw Zachodu, którymi transportuje się surowce energetyczne oraz ogromne ilości innych towarów. Do tego dochodzą nierozpoznane do końca żywe zasoby morza oraz złoża ropy naftowej i gazu. Wszystko to sprawia, że kontrola nad regionem Morza Południowochińskiego

The article describes the issue of maritime piracy in Southeast Asia and tries to answer the question concerting possibility of eradicating this phenomenon from the Asian waters, as it happened in the Horn of Africa. Since the Somali pirates activity has been reduced significantly, the paper analyses if it is possible to repeat this success in Southeast Asia. This question is ever so important because of the highest risk of maritime piracy attacks is in that region since 2012, especially in the Indonesian waters. The article also describes chosen reasons of maritime piracy in Asia, which are chiefly related to geography, socio-political factors, and economy, for instance: the problem of poverty, corruption and effective control of such huge territory. The article emphasises that the conditions in Southeast Asia differ from the Somali ones; as a result, it may be difficult to repeat successfully the anti-piracy efforts which eliminated piracies from the Somali waters almost entirely.

The situation in Southeast Asia brings attention not only to the regional countries, but also to the great powers. The growing People’s Republic of China’s economy and military especially causes concern regarding the stability of the whole Southeast Asia region. Smaller Southeast Asian countries may be overwhelmed by China. Amongst these countries is Malaysia, which tries to secure its national interest in the region, especially in the South China Sea. Malaysia faces some maritime
security threats caused by its stakes in the Spratly Islands dispute. The article attempts to elucidate the contemporary condition of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN), especially in the field of warships. Moreover, the study tries to answer the question of why the RMN is an important branch of the Malaysian Armed Forces and plays a vital role in securing Malaysian safety.
The article is divided into two parts. The first describes the problems which Malaysia faces in the field of maritime security. The second elaborates the assets of the RMN, mostly in major combatant
ships. This paper concludes with a summary of the RMN’s major vessels that have been and will be developed from 1990 to 2025.

The paper presents the issue of China's use of economic diplomacy instruments in Southeast Asia. The authors have chosen those they consider to be the most important ones, and their use in Southeast Asian countries has been presented. The goal of the paper is analyzing the role of selected economical instruments used by the China's government in Southeast Asian countries, and answering the following questions: which economical instruments are used by China in the region?; how important is People's Republic of China as a trade partner for SEA states?; what is the role and scale of Chinese direct investment in Southeast Asian countries, including the Belt and Road Initiative?; what are the consequences of China's activities for SEA countries? The methodology of the paper is based on literature review and statistical data analysis. The results show that China has become an important trade partner and a source of FDI for the SEA region, especially for less developed states. Countries such as Cambodia, Lao PDR or Myanmar (which are corrupt and fragile) are areas of PRC economic expansion, which also enhances PRC political influence in the region.

Japanese war crimes are relatively unknown in Central and Eastern European societies, more fascinated with the exotic culture of the country than with the darker sides of its history. In former colonial empires, i.e. Western European countries whose citizens experienced Japanese atrocities, the subject is also slowly fading from memory, with a constantly shrinking number of witnesses to the WWII activities of the Imperial Army or the Imperial Navy. However, countries in the Far East
still vividly remember those events, which influences their relations with the Asian superpower. The first part of the paper presents the most serious Japanese war crimes (for example the atrocities in China, the Philippines, the Malay Peninsula and Indonesia, as well as the attitude towards western POWs). The second part is devoted to the problems of prosecuting Japanese crimes, not only by the Tokyo Tribunal, but also in a series of less prominent trials that took place after the end
of World War II. At the same time the author considers whether Japan in fact took responsibility for its war crimes or whether this responsibility was only partial. The paper shows the influence of the Cold War and US post-war policy towards now allied Japan on the problem of enforcing justice and the crimes committed by the Imperial Japanese Army, as well as the attitude of the Japanese themselves to the dark side of their past. The last part of the article focuses on the problem of how
the war’s events have affected the perception of Japan by its neighbours after 1945. This mainly refers to Japan’s relations with China and both Koreas, but also to other countries in the region.

Wprowadzenie Czechy, Słowacja, Węgry-te trzy kraje Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej, pomi-mo dzielących je różnic, łączą także pewne wspólne doświadczenia historyczne. Jednym z nich był fakt, że wchodziły w skład Austro-Węgier, następnie przeżyły (wyjąwszy Słowację) okres międzywojennej samodzielności, po to aby stać się satelitami III Rzeszy (dotyczyło to Węgier i powstałej w 1938 r. Słowacji), a kolejnym etapem ich, już powojennej, historii była zależność od Związku Radzieckiego (Czechosłowacja i Węgry), która zakończyła się w trakcie tzw. Jesieni Ludów w 1989 r. Kraje te weszły następnie w okres transformacji ustrojowej, a do tego należy dodać "aksamitny rozwód" czesko-słowacki, który miał miejsce w 1993 r. Można więc przyjąć, że państwa te podążały (pomimo istniejących różnic) podobną ścieżką historii, a ich losy były nierozerwalnie związane z otoczeniem zewnętrz-nym-presją silniejszych podmiotów. Stąd też zasadna wydaje się analiza zjawiska populizmu występującego w tych krajach, przede wszystkim z powodu ich bliskie-go sąsiedztwa, pewnej wspólnej tradycji oraz istniejących powiązań czy zależno-ści. Celem tego tekstu jest też zbadanie elementów łączących ruchy populistyczne w tych państwach. Należy także spróbować odpowiedzieć na pytanie o realną siłę ruchów określanych mianem populistycznych i ich wpływ na tamtejszą politykę. W pierwszej części artykułu znajdzie się skrótowa charakterystyka populizmu i lista czynników, które mogą sprzyjać rozwojowi tego zjawiska w omawianym regionie.
