About us
This is the Official Page of UNICEF Tanzania. UNICEF has been on the ground in Tanzania since 1954 as part of its emergency operations, though the office was set up in 1975. Since then, UNICEF’s support to Tanzania has taken many forms guided by the changing situation of women and children in Tanzania as well as the Organization's priorities. UNICEF plays a unique role in Tanzania as an advocate for children’s rights, identifying gaps in their realization, providing technical advice and assistance to the Government in addressing the gaps, and bringing evidence to the table. UNICEF will not stop until every child has every right!

✨ Highlighting the remarkable journey of Emmanuel Cosmas Msoka, a dedicated UNICEF youth advocate from Tanzania!✨ At just 18, Emmanuel built a pedal-powered handwashing machine during the COVID-19 pandemic, impacting over 400 individuals and significantly promoting hygiene. His drive to serve marginalized communities, especially children, led him to become a youth advocate for UNICEF Tanzania. Emmanuel’s latest project, the Peace Library in Kizimkazi, Zanzibar, shows his commitment to education and cultural cohesion. This innovative library is not just a reading space; it has become a vibrant hub for community engagement, hosting cultural events and educational programs that foster understanding and peace among children. Through his journey, Emmanuel demonstrates the transformative power of youth innovation in addressing global challenges. Let’s continue to support and empower the next generation of leaders who are shaping a brighter future #ForEveryChild Read more: https://lnkd.in/d42Eq9tM

🌟 Maternity Waiting Homes are a lifeline for mothers in remote areas. 🌟 In the distant village of Makongorosi, Chunya District 🇹🇿, the journey to safe motherhood has become a reality for many women, thanks to the newly constructed Maternity Waiting Home at Chunya District Referral Hospital. Noelia Kilimanjaro, a mother of three, is expecting her fourth child and faced significant challenges due to the distance to the nearest hospital. With support from KOICA, UNICEF Tanzania was able to construct the Maternity Waiting Home providing a safe haven for over 2,000 women like Noelia, ensuring they receive essential care and monitoring throughout their pregnancy. This initiative is a crucial step towards reducing maternal and neonatal mortality rates in Tanzania, offering hope and support to mothers in remote areas. Let’s continue to support and advocate for such life-saving interventions. Together, we can make a difference! 💙 Read more: https://lnkd.in/dJ-s4pXE #MaternalHealth #UNICEFTanzania #ForEveryChild

UNICEF Tanzania reposted this
It was a great opportunity to be among the speakers at Summit of the Future Action days in New York City. My speech based on the value of volunteerism, Civic engagement and intergenerational partnership, How youth can be included in various aspects in an organization and society at large. For the creation of the future that we want an intergenerational partnership has the power since will enable youth including those with disabilities to share their technological skills to the older generation and the older generation passing down their wisdom and experience but this will be achieved if we can break down all the barriers and not seeing the difference as a Limitation. I am so grateful for an opportunity. United Nations Volunteers UNICEF Tanzania

As we observe the #InternationalDayofPeace, this year's theme, #CultivatingaCultureofPeace, encourages us to focus on how we can create lasting peace for children and communities. 🌍🌿 In Zanzibar, initiatives like the Peace Library led by UNICEF Youth Advocate Emmanuel Cosmas Msoka are playing a critical role in fostering learning spaces where children can grow into peace champions. Such projects underscore the power of local action in building a peaceful future. Let’s continue working together to ensure peace, education, and protection #ForEveryChild. #UNICEFTanzania
