Ivan Toney’s agent has informed Brentford that the England striker is keen to join Manchester United after Euro 2024, according to reports.

Toney has played a small but crucial role for England at the Euros, providing an assist in the last-16 win over Slovakia and then scoring a penalty in the shootout victory against Switzerland.

The 28-year-old has been linked with several top Premier League clubs in recent years but then saw his career halted by an eight-month ban for breaches of FA betting rules.

Toney is back in the mind of several elite clubs now he has returned to action, with United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham among those to be linked with moves over the past 12 months.

Manchester United are set to unveil Netherlands forward Joshua Zirkzee as their first major summer signing but will still try to sign another striker after the Dutchman’s arrival.

United welcomed highly-rated striker Rasmus Hojlund to Old Trafford last summer but the Dane endured an underwhelming first season in the Premier League.

Toney and fellow England star Ollie Watkins have emerged as targets for Manchester United and at least one of those players is keen to move to the Theatre of Dreams.

According to BILD, Toney wants to join the Red Devils this summer and his agent has already informed Brentford of his desire to leave.

Toney has scored 71 goals in 142 appearances for Brentford and hit 20 goals in his last full season in the Premier League.

Brentford are braced for approaches for Toney and reportedly want around £60m for a player who has repeatedly hinted his future lies away from west London.

Before the start of the Euros, Toney admitted he would be ‘ready’ for a move to a big club this summer.

‘I have a year left [on his contract at Brentford],’ Toney told talkSPORT. ‘Going into a major tournament, that is my main focus now.

‘But after this, I’ll be going back to Brentford and I will be a Brentford player still. It’s nice to be linked with other clubs. But I’ve had this in the past. Nothing is done until it’s done.

‘Obviously, if it was to come, I would be ready. But I’ve got to remain focused and not let other things and other noise get the best of me and just focus on what I need to do for my club.’

If required, Toney will hope to help England beat Spain in Sunday’s Euro 2024 final and finally end 58 years of hurt.
