Billie Eilish’s mum, Maggie Baird, starred in an episode of Friends in 1999 and fans have started flinging out the nepo baby accusations.

That’s right. Two years before the Oscar-winning singer was born, her mum Maggie played a small role in the season six episode, The One Where Joey Loses His Insurance, as casting director number two.

During the episode, Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc) is suffering from a hernia but doesn’t have healthcare insurance to cover it which leads him to audition for a dog food commercial.

Sadly, the crippling pain means he cannot pick up the large bag of dog food and when he suggests he simply points to it the casting director looks less than impressed. Joey quickly accepts he hasn’t landed the gig.

One clip uploaded to Instagram pointed out Maggie’s early role with fans quickly flocking to add yet another set of industry stars – Billie, 22, and brother Finneas O’Connell, 26 – to the list of famous faces with unexpected connections.

‘Sooo…. She didn’t just came out of nowhere… she’s an industry bby,’ @melmnrz commented.

‘Ahhh so Billie IS a nepo baby,’ @_.euwynd._ added.

But Finneas himself took to the comments to defend his family against the nepotism accusations.

‘Ah yes, the classic, one day of work on one episode of friends to make someone rich and famous- the whole gag of this video is none of you had any idea at all who she was,’ the award-winning composer wrote.

Their parents, Maggie, 65, and husband Patrick O’Connell, 66, both played various small role across several TV shows and films back in the day.

Maggie also appeared in shows such as The X Files as Sharon Pearl, Charmed as a doctor and Bones as Sandra Hicks.

Meanwhile, Patrick popped up as a reporter in Iron Man, a bartender in The West Wing and the character Leo in General Hospital.

Not only that but the whole family, aside from Billie, starred in Maggie’s 2013 movie Life Inside Out about a mum bonding with her troubled son over music.

Nowadays sibling duo Billie and Finneas are carving their own path in the music industry and earlier this year won an Oscar for the Barbie soundtrack song What Was I Made For, co-created by Finneas and performed by Billie.

It is their second Oscar as a duo with the first for the James Bond theme song No Time To Die.

The pair were raised in Los Angeles and in an interview with Rolling Stone in 2019 dad Patrick admitted that he and his wife were ‘mostly unemployed’ actors who put their careers on hold to homeschool their children.

But the Hollywood atmosphere did push Billie to audition for a few screen roles.

‘I went on, like, two auditions,’ Billie told the publication.

‘So lame. This creepy, cold room. All these kids that looked exactly the same. Most actor kids are psychopaths. I did Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Ramona and Beezus, X-Men.

‘It was fun — a bunch of kids in a room yelling random things, and then we’d have a break and get snacks.’

In the end, the Lunch hitmaker rose to fame in 2015 after she performed a song called Ocean Eyes, written and produced by her brother, which went viral on SoundCloud.

As well as becoming a history-making two-time Academy Award winner, the music artist has also headlined festivals such as Coachella and recently dropped her chart-topping third studio album, Hit Me Hard and Soft.
