The owner of a pub in Liverpool has spoken out after Sean Bean got into a scuffle with the security after being told off for allegedly vaping indoors, it was claimed.

The Game of Thrones star, 65, was grabbed by security in the corner of Liverpool boozer Tom Thumb earlier this week.

In the corner of a bar, a member of staff can be heard telling the actor to ‘calm down’ before he is dragged downwards towards the floor by the wrist.

Witnesses told the Daily Mail Online the Sharpe actor was dragged the whole way to the ground before he was forcibly removed.

The eyewitness told the publication: ‘I was really surprised and pleased when I first looked up and saw him sitting there.

‘When the bouncer went over to him, I thought it was for a photo, but actually he was asking Bean to stop vaping in the bar.

‘Sean kept saying he could do what he wanted. To be honest he was being a right a***hole.

‘The bouncers were just doing what they do for everyone else – which is fair enough,’ they added, before claiming Sean came back and began vaping again.

‘They asked him to leave but he wouldn’t. He was just clinging onto his chair,’ they continued, adding: ‘I was so shocked by the fight I couldn’t move – my jaw just hit the floor.

‘I was really saddened by his smugness. He really seemed to feel like he could do what he wanted.’

In a statement sent to Metro.co.uk the owner and operator of the pub said: ‘This has all been blown out of proportion. Sean Bean behaved fine and is a great guy it was a misunderstanding.

‘Sean Bean and the doorman shook hands outside the bar and Sean is welcome back anytime.’

The Lord of the Rings actor was in Liverpool filming This City Is Ours alongside James Nelson-Joyce, in which he plays a gang leader called Ronnie Phelan.

The eight part series is being filmed for 14 weeks, and is due to be released at some point in 2025. Scenes are also being shot in Spain.

This is not the first time Bean has got into a bar brawl, as he was reportedly stabbed in a Camden pub 13 years ago when a fight escalated over model April Summers.

He was said to have been stabbed in the arm during the incident, as reported by the Daily Mail.

Witnesses told the paper he brushed off the injury, accepted a first aid kit from the bar staff, and proceeded to get another drink.

‘Sean is a regular here and we’ve never had any problems before. He was with a very attractive woman and an incident occurred outside the bar,’ one staff member told the paper.

‘He came in with a cut on his arm and a bruise on his eyebrow. We saw to his injuries with the first aid kit. He seemed OK and wanted to have another drink.’

Metro.co.uk has contacted Sean Bean’s representatives for comment.
