The new trailer for the long-awaited GTA 6 has been officially unveiled and it’s been reported that over 50m people – more than the population of Spain – have seen it already.
Rockstar Games unveiled the clip late on Monday night after it leaked elsewhere, advising fans to ‘please watch the real thing on YouTube’, and fans were excited to return to the game’s world of the Miami-inspired Vice City, set to the sounds of Tom Petty.
Excitement for the game is sky-high, of course – but one fan on X (formerly Twitter) has taken it to new levels. The user, @MrRoflWaffles, created a picture thread of real-life Florida locations in the trailer – showing them alongside their GTA counterparts. ‘/u/elbenji wrote the list, I found the pics,’ he told his followers.
But which locations feature in the trailer – and what do they look like in real life?
Ocean Drive
This South Beach location in Florida (left) is famous for its art deco properties, bars and restaurants, which have previously been seen onscreen in the TV series Dexter as well as Robin Williams’ 1996 movie The Birdcage.
Now the road also has its place in GTA infamy after being perfectly recreated in the trailer.
King Of Diamonds
This famous night spot (left) is known as a strip club, live music venue and one of the most famous nightclubs in Miami – attracting celebrities, athletes, hip-hop stars and other musicians.
It closed in 2018, reopening again in 2020 – and now it looks set to open its doors in GTA 6 after being spotted in the trailer.
Wynwood
This is known as one of the hippest neighbourhoods in Miami, known for its craft breweries and art galleries, as well as Wynwood Walls – an outdoor museum showcasing some stunning works of street art.
If the trailer for GTA 6 is anything to go by, expect a pretty faithful recreation of this district.
Turnpike
Aka State Road 91, this road runs for 309 miles across the state through Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, making it the perfect setting for a spot of GTA mayhem.
So no surprise to see it show up in the trailer.
Everglades
The Florida Everglades – the largest subtropical wilderness in the US – is a network of forests, wetlands and prairies in the south of the state, which runs all the way down to Florida Bay and is known for its wildlife (from alligators to exotic birds).
It’s also now set to find fame as a location in GTA 6 – swapping a car for a boat if the trailer is anything to go by.
South Beach
While Ocean Drive shows up in GTA 6, South Beach – an area within Miami Beach famous for its glamorous restaurants and buzzing nightlife – gets a more detailed look-in in the game’s trailer.
The area certainly has no shortage of stunning locations to choose from, with its Art Deco buildings, boutique hotels and chic shopping streets – but it’s the beach which takes centre stage in the clip.
Tuttle
Aka the Julia Tuttle Causeway (or Tuttle Bridge), named after the businesswoman who owned the property upon which Miami was built in the 19th Century – who is known as the ‘Mother Of Miami’ and who was the only woman to found a major American city.
The causeway extends from I-95 to Miami Beach across Biscayne Bay – once again giving GTA players a long stretch of road to create chaos on.
Overtown
Another area of downtown Miami, Overtown is a Black Heritage neighbourhood famous as a historic entertainment destination – the likes of Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holliday all performed there.
As for its GTA appearance? We’re not sure yet what part it will play but expect motorbikes if the trailer is anything to go by.
A Sunoco Gas Station
This could be anywhere in Florida, of course, since they have locations all across the state (and indeed the US).
But given the theme of the game we can’t say we’re surprised to see one show up in the trailer.
Flanigan’s Big Daddy’s
Flanigan’s is a well-known chain across south Florida, founded by Joseph ‘Big Daddy’ Flanigan in the 1980s and specialising in fish and seafood.
It’s undergone a name change in the GTA 6 trailer by the looks of it, now being called Uncle Jack’s – but the logo will be recognisable to anyone who’s been to a branch.
GTA 6 is scheduled for release in 2025.
