We are honored to welcome Shinichi Izawa (Board Director of Green Sports Alliance Japan ), Haruki Sawada (Executive Director of Green Sports Alliance Japan), YOHEI IGUCHI (Director of Meister Group), and Yusuke Nagasawa (Sustainability Strategy of DeNA Co., Ltd., Sports & Smart City Business Unit, Business Administration Dept.), who will attend and share their insights on the topic “Cities to Use Healthy Sports Playing Spaces as a Multifunctional Tool to Become Climate Adaptive and Water Circular.” Professor Jung-Jui Chao (趙榮瑞) from the National Taiwan University of Sport (國立臺灣體育運動大學) will moderate this panel discussion. The first online sustainability workshop for running race volunteers was held last week. The goal was to help volunteers from the Taiwan Green Running Race Alliance members understand the connection between sports and environmental sustainability. The second workshop is scheduled for early September. After completing the series of workshops, we hope they can assist race organizers with sustainability tasks in the future. #Taiwan #RoadRunning #Sustainability

Join Sports Environment Alliance for another insightful monthly 'Beyond the Summit' webinar. This month, we dive into why carbon is important; not only to calculate your organisation's emissions, but to also develop a plan to minimise the emissions. Entitled 'Calculating your sporting organisation’s carbon footprint and implementing actions' Date: Tuesday 13 August Time: 11.00am - 12.00pm AEST This session will see Michelle Morris (MBA, GAICD) from MI Global Partners, and Christopher Wilson from Pangolin Associates Pty Ltd join us as key speakers. MI Global Partners is an Associate Member of SEA, and is an Australian-based global consultancy whose team has worked on some of the world’s most celebrated events. Pangolin Associates is a Sydney-based carbon and energy management specialists and a leader in the field of greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting. Together, Michelle and Chris will share some of their experiences of working on carbon accounting and management projects, including their collaboration on the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, held in Sydney in 2022. We will then be joined by our panellists Peter Wearne, General Manager Facilities, Melbourne Cricket Ground and Sarah Lowe, Sustainability Manager, Australian Grand Prix Corporation. Peter will speak about what the MCG is doing to work towards being carbon neutral, when the journey started, and what they have achieved so far. Sarah will then speak on the process AGPC has taken over the past two years to identify and benchmark their carbon emissions. The speakers include Alexandra Criscuolo, MBA in Sustainability (New York Road Runners), Claire Poole (Founder of Sport Positive), and the representatives from the Green Sports Alliance Japan . Last weekend, the Chinese Taipei Association of Ultrarunners held its annual workshop for volunteers and referees. Dr. Huang was invited to share his insights on creating green running races. Through this opportunity, we hope to promote the concept of green sports events to ultramarathon crews and encourage them to prioritize environmental sustainability.

We are thrilled to share that Dr. Huang has been selected to serve as a judge for the prestigious 2024 Sport Positive Awards! These global industry awards recognize and promote the efforts of organizations and individuals who leverage the power of sport to address sustainability issues. It's an honor to be part of this event, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to Sport Positive for this opportunity.

On June 27th, our alliance met with experts to discuss the materiality matrix for the alliance members' marathon. The potential stakeholders for each marathon and the entire process have been thoroughly reviewed. These marathon organizers plan to have their first meeting with stakeholders at the end of July. The initial results should be released in the coming September.

Frank Kuo, the President of the Chinese Taipei Association of Ultra-Runners, and Yu Huang, Professor of National Tsing Hua U., attended the Green Sports Alliance Summit in L.A. Both of them enjoyed such a unique experience, and the dialogue with the Summit delegates was informative and inspiring. Dr. Huang also participated in the breakout session with Alexandra Criscuolo, MBA in Sustainability (New York Road Runners), Catherine (Cat) Morris (Chicago Event Management), Murphy Reinschreiber (McCourt Foundation), and Tina Muir(Running For Real). #24GSASummit
