TV show description:
Set against the backdrop of the high-pressure world of advertising, this drama revolves around a pair of ad men. At the Chicago-based Rothman, Greene & Mohr (RGM) advertising agency, Mason McGuire (Eric McCormack) is a V.P. Art Director and Conner (Tom Cavanagh) is a V.P. Copywriter.
Though the two are longtime best friends and creative partners, they couldn’t be more different. Mason is a responsible, workaholic family man with a beautiful wife, Erin (Sarah Clarke), two children, and an undying loyalty to the brands that he helps to sell. By contrast, Conner is a single and impulsive guy with the attention span of a teenager. Their relationship is put to the test when Mason is named the creative director of the agency, making him Conner’s boss.
Also working in the same agency is new hire Sarah Krajicek-Hunter (Monica Potter), an award-winning copywriter whose forceful personality has a tendency to rub people the wrong way. Hector Culligan (Geoffrey Arend) and Tom Mink (Mike Damus) are a junior creative team with untraditional ideas that don’t always sit well with their new boss. The entire team is supervised by Tony Mink (Griffin Dunne), a man who lives and dies by the advertising business but has a growing sense that his days in this young person’s business may be numbered.
This inside view of the ad game follows these varied personalities as they try to navigate the waters of inter-office politics, personality conflicts, easily bruised egos, professional jealousies, and unreasonable client demands.
