TV show description:
A British-French crime drama, The Tunnel TV series follows UK Detective Karl Roebuck (Dillane) and French Detective Elise Wassermann (Poésy). In the first season, when a French politician is found dead in the middle of the Channel Tunnel (i.e. Chunnel), these two officers are dispatched to investigate on behalf of their countries.
Thanks to a discovery made at the scene of the crime, the French and British police must partner with each other on the grizzly case. As the story progresses, the serial killer employs more intricate and innovative means to draw Karl and Elise further into his progressively intimate plan.
In the second season, entitled The Tunnel: Sabotage, a French couple is abducted from the Channel Tunnel, leaving their young daughter behind. Elise and Karl are assigned to the investigation. When a plane crashes in the Channel, and everyone aboard it dies, their case grows even more complicated.
The Tunnel — which was inspired by the Swedish series, The Bridge — also airs on Sky Atlantic in UK and Canal+ in France. Those networks have reportedly ordered a third and final season, entitled The Tunnel: Vengeance, which will involve the refugee crisis.
Series Finale:
Episode #24
In the final episode, Karl and Elise face a tense and gripping showdown with the Pied Piper, while the truth about the Moreau abduction is revealed at last.
First aired: August 5, 2018.
What do you think? Do you like The Tunnel TV show? Should it have been renewed for a fourth season on PBS?
I’ve watched The Tunnel series a few times now and, like a really good book, I see, or, learn something new each time. I’m saddened to know there will be no new series of this spine tingling, keep you on the edge of your sofa series, but I enjoy many PBS shows and series and I’ll keep (The Tunnel) on my bookshelf of entertainment favorites to watch over now and again, as with many of my favorites series. Thank you PBS for doing what you do to provide amazing entertainment to us all. Cindy L. South Carolina
This show is brilliant! Love the story line, dynamics of main characters, Carl and Elise. Very suspenseful. Disappointed that there are no more seasons planned…Excellent script also..The British do murder mysteries so well!
This show was so, so good. Why on earth was it canceled??
I love this show! I have access to a lot of channels but PBS is my go-to and absolute favorite. This particular show is one of the very best.
So little quality TV and yet this gets canceled?
HUGE mistake to cancel this program. The acting was excellent. The plots twisted and tense. It is a great show and quite worthy of renewal. You need to walk out of the darkness and see the light!
Say it isn’t so! I love The Tunnel! Please do not cancel this program. There are not many good shows on TV. This is an exception.
