Series Description:
This suspenseful drama chronicles the life of the Raders, an average middle-class American family who just moved to Bridgewater, Iowa.
Unbeknown to their neighbors, patriarch Paul Rader (Donnie Wahlberg) was convicted of a murder that he didn’t commit and has escaped from the law.
Besides the FBI, the real killer also seems to be hunting Paul, wife/mom Lily (Leslie Hope) and children Henry (Dustin Milligan), Hannah (Sarah Ramos) and Tommy (Nathan Gamble).
Episode nine – End Game
Paul tries to get attorney Cunningham (Craig Eldridge) to reveal what he knows and Cunningham commits suicide by shooting himself. In the final moments of the series, Paul is tired of running and starts to call Agent Huntley (Karen LeBlanc) to turn himself in. Lily stops him and hangs up the phone.
She then confesses that she confronted Erin (Sandrine Holt) over her affair with Paul and, in the heat of the moment, killed her. As Tommy comes downstairs to ask why his mother is crying, the phone rings with Agent Huntley calling back.
This episode never aired in the U.S.
There’s been no news of any plans to revive the series or characters.
Behind the Scenes
• | Runaway was pulled after only three episodes. It was the first series of the new CW network to be cancelled. |
• | All nine episodes were eventually aired on British Television channel E4 in Summer 2007. They were later aired in other countries as well. |
• | It’s unknown if the final episode’s script was changed at the last minute to try to wrap up the series. Lily’s confession and Cunningham’s suicide seem to conflict with events in previous episodes. |
• | The network initially ordered 13 episodes but shut down production after nine. The unfilmed scripts were entitled “They Say It’s Your Birthday,” “Dashing Through the Snow,” “Trial and Error,” and “Knock, Knock.” |
