After struggling for years in the ratings, it seems that NBC is really starting to turn things around. Of course, they still have their challenges. Which NBC TV shows will be cancelled and which will be renewed? Stay tuned!
NBC shows this season (so far): A to Z, About a Boy, AD: The Bible Continues: Allegiance, America’s Got Talent, American Ninja Warrior, American Odyssey, Aquarius, Bad Judge, The Biggest Loser, The Blacklist, The Celebrity Apprentice, Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, Constantine, Dateline, Dateline Saturday Night Mystery, Grimm, Hannibal, Hollywood Game Night, I Can Do That, The Island, Last Comic Standing, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Marry Me, Mr. Robinson, The Mysteries of Laura, The Night Shift, One Big Happy, Parenthood, Parks and Recreation, Running Wild with Bear Grylls, The Sing-Off, The Slap, State of Affairs, Undateable, The Voice, and Welcome to Sweden.
There’s lots of data that NBC looks at when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series but the ratings are typically the biggest piece. Here’s how the network’s shows are doing.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also see them here and here.
A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released. The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing), unless marked with an asterisk (*). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually so feel free to let me know if I missed something.
Keep in mind that the demo numbers are typically what’s most important to advertisers. Therefore, that’s how the networks measure success. Advertisers pay more for ad time on a show that has a higher demo rating. Because older viewers don’t count? No, it’s because younger viewers watch less traditional TV and are harder to reach.
Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking. The networks take into account when shows air on Fridays and Saturdays, nights when TV viewership is lower.
What do you think? Which shows are you rooting for? Which one isn’t as big a hit as you thought? Are you hoping any series will get cancelled to make way for something else?

I wished that they would have renewed about a boy we loved that show watched it every week I hope they will bring it back.
I loved amErica odyssey. I looked forward to it every Sunday. I’m a highly educated teacher Abe found the story line riveting. Bad move nbc. I bet there are many more like me.
Donald Trump didn’t say anything wrong. We will not be watching NBC or shopping Macy’s any more
I am rooting that American Odyssey will be renewed for a 2nd (and hopefully more after that). First, it ended with so many questions left unanswered. Second, I usually dvr all my shows and watch on different days. This is the only show in years that I had to watch on Sundays. When I started watching it seemed like it was over so fast. It held my attention the whole show. Best show this season. And I watch ALOT of TV. This is one show that I felt I must put my sense on this subject. Maybe I can help… Read more »
Networks need to give shows a chance to build an audience! Even “Cheers” didn’t break the top ten until season four (1st season ranking: 74th out of 77 shows!). American Odyssey was a great show & I am very unhappy with NBC for canceling it!
Keep American Odyssey it had been one of the better programs I’ve seen in a long time. Stop putting out shows and then canceling them after the first season. Making me not want to even watch NBC anymore with all the good shows you canceled but actually kept some bad ones
AD The Bible– love it !!!
Best series on TV—
I did too, I am boycotting NBC
I am so sick of these net works canceling good programming as many of you said you cant find good programs on network television these days . They really need to start firing those executives they get paid millions of dollars and they don’t even which these great shows like hannibal its well done very creative every thing anyone could want in a show I am sick of good shows being cut short as fans we should be aloud to do some thing about this call the networks and to these hacks who are getting millions to make stupid mistakes
