No stranger to television, Katherine Heigl had a long tenure on ABC’s successful Grey’s Anatomy TV series. Her next show, State of Affairs, was cancelled after one season on NBC. Now, she’s back on the small screen with a CBS legal drama called Doubt. How will this series do in the ratings? Will Doubt be renewed for a second season or, will it be cancelled instead? Stay tuned.
The Doubt TV show stars Katherine Heigl as Sadie Ellis; Elliot Gould as Isaiah Roth; Laverne Cox as Cameron Wirth; Dreama Walker as Tiffany Simon; and Kobi Libii as Nick Brady. Sadie is a brilliant attorney who starts to fall for her charismatic client. Pediatric surgeon Billy Brennan (Steven Pasquale) was recently accused of murdering his girlfriend, 24 years ago. Sadie has to hide her growing feelings from everyone, including her close friend and colleague, Albert Cobb (Dulé Hill). Getting involved with her client could put Sadie’s career and happiness at risk — particularly if Billy is found guilty. She must work all the harder to prove reasonable doubt, even while she has some doubts of her own.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival.
2/25 update: CBS has pulled Doubt from the schedule after only two episodes. Details here.
8/13 update: You can see the rest of the latest night’s ratings.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: These are the Live + Same Day Ratings which include “live” viewing plus delayed DVR viewing, up until 3am local time that same night. Ratings marked with an “*” are the fast affiliate ratings and will be updated with the Live+SD numbers when they are made available. Typically, networks get paid for C+3 ratings which includes DVR viewing within three days of the original airing when commercials are watched. Those numbers are rarely released to the press.
What do you think? Did you like the Doubt TV show on CBS? Should it have been cancelled or renewed for season two?
5/17 update: It’s official. There will be no second season of Doubt. Details here.
Please continue to season 2. I like the show. But please make Bill NOT GUILTY as final reality. I don’t want Sadie broken heart.
I loved this show and I was so disappointed to learn it was not renewed for a second season. Loved the cast…best show since “The Good Wife”…..!!!
They should stop letting professional critics get in their heads when they tell them the show’s bad! i don’t how many exciting series i’ve gone through only to find out season 1 is the last and the shows got cancelled. they keep terrible shows on for like over 10 years but can’t keep on the good stuff just because of the ratings aren’t too good the first few episodes, they forget people need time to fall in love with the show.
Please renew this show. I love it and all the cast. I do not like all the reality shows and do not watch them. Every time a show comes on that I just totally love, it gets cancelled. Please consider the older adults and have shows that we like. This is a terrific show! Please reconsider and renew this show
Another one of my favorite shows cancelled!!!!!
doubt was undoubtably the best new show.I was so disappointed to see it was cancelled
This was an amazing show!! I can’t believe you cancel it!! Surely another network will be smarter and pick it up!! It is a wonderful show!!!
This show was wonderful. Even though it was buried in a loaded TV schedule and hard to find, we watched it faithfully. You lost the opportunity to create a genuinely unique show for a long time to come. We will miss it!
Please bring back on
This was an awesome season, kept you on your edge of your seat. Katherine Heigl and the other actress’s and actors were great. Please bring a 2nd season, it left you hanging, they cancelled it way to quick.
It was a great show. We really enjoyed it. Very disappointed it got cancelled. This makes no sense a lot of garbage tv out there this was really good.
This show was great SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN CANCELLED. It was not the same old drudge as most of what’s on is. CBS never gave this show a chance, 2 episodes! BOO to CBS!
Doubt should have been renewed for season 2. Doubt had a story line, fast moving plot and great characters. It was never given a chance or prompted so the viewing public even knew about it. I stumbled on it one evening when I was searching for something entertaining to watch. There is so much junk on the various channels and this was refreshingly entertaining. I watched the remaining episodes on demand looking forward to season 2. Ratings are worthless when a sample of 2 episodes constitutes a viewing public. Truly pathetic and disheartening.
Doubt should definitely be renewed. People were not given a chance to get into it before they canceled it. Two episodes is not enough to get a feel. Anyone who watched all 13 is probably hooked.
Wow! I had told everyone I know to watch it. I was really looking forward to season 2. Really sorry to hear that is not coming back on.
I think the is a really good show with a great cast. Why does everything rely on younger demographics, they don’t watch TV as regularly as 40+ demo does. We want more quality shows like Doubt and This is Us.
Please bring this show back! It has tackled a lot of important issues in just Season One, think of the issue it can tackle in another season. The actors were amazing, the stories were intriguing and with a little more advertisement I think that CBS could get the views it needs with this show to make it a success. Please renew this show for a second season, it’s impossible to know if a show will be successful after two episodes!
