TV show description:
A Canadian reality series that follows celebrities for interesting and unique encounters. The personalities travel around the globe to meet with real-life young leaders who are affecting real changes in their communities, often under very adverse circumstances. By the end of the show, it becomes apparent who the real stars are.
Episodes include actor Joaquin Phoenix travelling to the Amazon Rainforest and meeting the leader of the Yawanawa tribe; actress Cameron Diaz trekking to the Andes mountains to meet a young medicine man who keeps his people’s ancient knowledge alive; and actor Casey Affleck visiting a Pawnee Nation reservation and a Native youth who inspires through hip hop and art.
Sol Guy hosts and co-created the series with Josh Thome.
Episode Eight – K’NAAN
In Kenya, host Sol Guy brings international hip hop star K’NAAN to Kibera, the largest slum in East Africa.
They connect with local hero Salim Mohamed who helped to found Carolina for Kibera, an organization that focuses on community empowerment. Salim takes Sol and K’NAAN into the heart of Kibera where he shows them Carolina for Kibera’s medical clinic and the community development soccer program he coordinates for over 4,000 kids.
