Zachary Quinto’s Dr. Wolf Ordered to Series at NBC
NBC has made an appointment with Dr. Wolf, by giving the Zachary Quinto-led medical drama a series order.
From writer/executive producer Michael Grassi (Riverdale, Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin) and inspired by Dr. Oliver Sacks’ life and work (as chronicled in the books The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and An Anthropologist on Mars), Dr. Wolf stars Quinto (Heroes, NOS4A2) as Oliver Wolf, a revolutionary, larger-than-life neurologist, and his team of interns as they explore the last great frontier — the human mind — while also grappling with their own relationships and mental health.
The series’ cast also includes Teddy Sears (The Flash), Tamberla Perry (All American: Homecoming), Ashleigh LaThrop (The Kominsky Method), Alexander MacNicoll (Barry), Aury Krebs (Way Down) and Spence Moore II (The Wonder Years, grown-ish).
Exec-producing alongside Grassi are director Lee Toland Krieger, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, Henrik Bastin, Melissa Aouate, Andy Serkis, Jonathan Cavendish, Will Tennant and DeMane Davis.
Dr. Wolf joins a slate of new NBC series greenlit for the 2023-24 season (…or later), including the sitcom Extended Family, the Tom Hanks-narrated event series The Americas, the America’s Got Talent offshoot AGT: Fantasy League and Deal or No Deal Island.
Will you now also make an appointment with Dr. Wolf?
It’s kind of weird that they’re taking someone who wrote so extensively, and well, about his own life and work, and turning him into a fictional character. (Presumably so they can do a standard medical procedural with made-up cases.) At least in the movie “Awakenings” (based on one of Sacks’ memoirs) — where he was portrayed by Robin Williams — while they changed his name, he was still recognizable from real life.
Let Jews play Jews. Jewish people deserve representation too.
Why is anyone downvoting this? Seriously. Oliver Sacks was Jewish. Was he also gay? Because Zachary Quinto is. Hey, I didn’t make the rules…I’m just looking for equal enforcement.
Loved Quinto in the Star Trek movies. Teddy Sears is a favorite, too. I’ll be tuning in!
Plot twist: He’s also a werewolf.
Zachary is always good. But I want to see him take at least one more turn as Spock.
I have read Sachs’ books. I may give this a try but if it’s too heavy on the relationships and mental health problems and too light on the cool cases, I’ll bow out.
So is it the season filmed already or is it delayed due to the strike??
The pilot was filmed just before the writer’s strike. After the strike ended, the writers pitched the rest of the season and it has a series order. It will film when the actor’s strike ends.
It’s gonna be weird seeing Syler deal with the human mind without wanting to eat it for powers…

Not Quinto – NO NO NO. There is something about his acting – he never feels authentic in his roles. He is either over the top or just mediocre.
