Paulina Alexis, Reservation Dogs
WHY SHE DESERVES A NOD: Alexis’ grounded performance proved that she (and her character Willie Jack) was the Rez Dogs’ beating heart. In a final season that revolved around community, the actress delivered wisdom far beyond her years that was both believable and admirable. Yes, she tickled our funny bones plenty of times, but it’s her dramatic work that shouldn’t go unmentioned. Alexis’ youthful eyes and pained expressions went a long way in making us feel Willie Jack’s and the res’ history and hurt. She may have been a relative newcomer just a few years back, but we can’t wait to see what this rising star delivers in the future. — Nick Caruso
No Lisa Ann Walter, no Janelle James!!!
Fine actresses all, I’m sure, but I’m sorry there wasn’t room for Girls5eva’s Paula Pell. She makes everything she’s in 75% funnier.
I’ve measured.
I don’t see how anyone wins this over Hannah Einbinder after her performance this season, specifically in that finale..
But, as usual, it’s for a very dramatic performance.
And this is the comedy category.
Comedies can have dramatic moments… Hacks is most certainly a comedy series. She’s in the correct category – unlike Jeremy Allen White for The Bear.
Agreed however she is really a co-lead but I have almost given up that fight.
Rebecca Wisocky is criminally underrated on Ghosts, and in every show she has ever appeared. An Emmy nomination would be well deserved, especially for the absolute perfection that was her performance in her death episode.
Agreed. She was superb in that episode. It would be great to see her win an Emmy.
While I can’t complain about Zoe Perry being on the list (her performance in the final episodes of Young Sheldon was top notch), it’s criminal that Annie Potts has never been recognized.
Of the “Abbott Elementary” ladies, I was actually most impressed with Lisa Ann Walter this season.
Also, Annie Potts was the equal of Zoe Perry (and just about any other supporting actress on TV) in the final run of “Young Sheldon”.
Paulina Alexis was brilliant in Reservation Dogs. She showed true emotion in every phase and situation of the show.
Janelle James not being on this list is a crime! My vote is for her and only her.
So glad to see both Paulina Alexis and Rebecca Wisocky here! The others are solid choices but I’d go with Janelle James or Lisa Ann Walter for Abbott though – partly because they’re both hilarious, partly to share the wealth with Sherly having won the award already.
Rebecca Wisocky was brilliant in that episode. I think Ghosts is underrated they were funnier than Abbott Elementary this year.
Why not Lisa Ann Walter? Her one liners and comedic timing is genius! No offense to SherylLee Ralph, but Walter makes me laugh much more!
Please finally give one to either Janelle james or Susie Essman. Both Make me laugh every episode.
Not sure why, but Lisa Ann Walter seems to be perpetually overlooked, despite consistently shining on AE.
