Recently several firms have released their reports on the state of OT/ICS cybersecurity. However, these typically do not capture our small neck of the woods, aka the Caribbean. We're compiling a general review of the state of cybersecurity for the OT/ICS industries (Critical Infrastructure) in the Caribbean Region (although not limited to it) in an effort to highlight where the Caribbean stands within the cyber threat landscape. Please see the link to a form below where you answer 7 questions. Emails are not recorded (as we know some organizations have not reported their breaches) and submissions are kept anonymous. https://lnkd.in/gdd9GMVs Thanks for your participation (if you do choose to). Also please share with anyone you know that works with Critical Infrastructure companies. #cyberscurity #OT #ICS #cyber #security #breaches #dataleaks #criticalinfrastructure #critcal #infrastructure

Be wary of offers that are "to good to be true". Always remember if is sounds iffy, then it probably is. Below are 2 campaigns that are ongoing now, one for free health insurance and the other is free online courses from UTT and UWI. #cybersecurity #onlinesafety #phishing #socialengineering

🚨$1.1 Billion in Ransom Payments for 2023.🚨 According to researchers at Chainalysis.com, ransom payments nearly doubled in 2023 to $1.1 billion, compared to $560 million being paid in 2022. This is beyond alarming as there have been several articles by reputable sources stating that organizations are not paying ransoms, (hence the reason for the increase in data leaks) and also gives an idea of the drastic increase in the amount of ransomware attacks for 2023 as compared to previous years. It should be noted that those statistics may not be the actual total payments to ransomware groups with the figure possibly being higher. Clearly ransomware groups and threat actors are becoming more aggressive and we may perhaps see a continued similar treat if AI is maliciously incorporated in future attacks. Alex Samm and Shiva V.N Parasram have been working on a document detailing ransomware attacks by sector in #CARICOM and the #Caribbean and will share this report with the public on Monday (19th February). The report does not contain the names of victim organizations but instead details the industries hit categorized by country and by which group. we have also included published attacks in #Canada for comparison. We will also be discussing the findings in our upcoming CFSI CyberFence Webinar on Thursday 22nd February 2024. The link will be made available on Monday when the report is posted. Topics will include the findings of the report, ransomware groups, and most importantly, how easily ransomware attacks can now be executed with the help of Initial Access Brokers (IABs), InfoStealers and RaaS (Ransomware-as-a-Service) Affiliate programs accessible via the Dark Web. This report is brought to you by Shiva Parasram of the Computer Forensics and Security Institute (CFSI) and Alex Samm of Tier 10 Technology . #ransomwareattacks

https://lnkd.in/ef_R3me8 Anyone notice the trend yet? Because companies aren’t mandated to inform you that the company has breached and your data may be compromised, then we won’t tell you that your private data may be available online and used by anyone who gets their hands on it to perform fraudulent activities in your name. And it boogles my mind that some are able to defend the lack of communication and transparency. You mean you only came out and said anything because it was leaked online after the fact? That’s not transparency, that’s not comforting and it’s far from swift. Anyway see the posts by Gavin Dennis See posts by Shiva Parasram on tips and things to be aware of.

And this is something that should have been spoken about but again, nothing in place that mandates these organizations inform us when they've been breached, when they've compromised and when our data has been stolen from their systems #ransomware #caribbean #cybersecurity
#Jamaica 🇯🇲 #DIGICEL At least 164GB of company documents and files has been dumped online allegedly from Digicel Group by hackers from the Ransomexx group. The group claims they hacked the company in 2021. The hackers also released a list of the 160,000+ files that they stole and dumped for the entire internet to access. The hackers claim the stolen files cover at least the following areas: - Finance and Accounts Department (Receivables, Payables, Reports) - Human Resources - ICT (Configuration files for some systems) - Data on Subsidiaries (e.g. Trend Media) - Sales - Marketing - Data on internal projects - Agreements with third-parties - Analysis on competitors ... and more Since then, the data dump has been viewed about 940,000+ times by people online. It appears the ransom was not paid. The image below is from the ransomware group's page. NOTE: This data breach was discovered by the local security community.
