🔋Solid-state battery-powered #Nissan GT-R is coming! Nissan Motor Corporation has confirmed that it will debut its solid-state battery technology, which offers twice the energy density of liquid electrolyte lithium-ion batteries, in an electric GT-R. Currently undergoing tests at Nissan's Yokohama plant in Japan, these solid electrolyte batteries are set to enter low-volume production by 2028. Due to their high cost, they will initially be used in expensive models like the GT-R. Nissan aims to double the energy storage capacity within the same battery pack, reduce battery weight, significantly shorten charging times, and enhance safety by lowering the risk of battery fires. The company anticipates that as this costly technology becomes more affordable, it will find its way into smaller vehicles by 2030.

#Xpeng, Volkswagen's Chinese electric vehicle partner, announces plans to build a factory in Europe! In an interview with Bloomberg, XPENG CEO Xiaopeng He officially confirmed that the company will establish its first European factory in a region with low labor risk. Xpeng's vehicle lineup includes electric SUVs (G3, G6, G9), sedans (M03, P5, P7), and an electric MPV named X9. Having sold 63,000 electric vehicles in the first seven months of 2024, the company is struggling to keep up with the intense competition in the Chinese market. Known for its advanced autonomous driving technology, Xpeng also plans to establish a massive data center in Europe to store autonomous driving data, in addition to its first production base. While finalizing the factory's location, Xpeng may opt for a region near Germany to stay close to its partner Volkswagen.

⚡BYD Prepares for Direct Electric Vehicle Sales in Europe Without Dealerships! Chinese electric vehicle giant #BYD is parting ways with its German distributor and will begin direct sales for the first time in October. According to reports in the German media, BYD blames distributor #Hedin for low sales performance and plans to establish its own sales network and work with more dealers. In addition to physical stores, the Chinese giant is also considering online sales, having sold 4,139 vehicles in Germany last year and only 1,432 in the first seven months of 2024. Aiming to sell 120,000 electric cars in Germany alone by 2026, BYD believes it can grow faster without an intermediary distributor between it and the dealerships. This sales model will be implemented for the first time in Germany starting October 1. The German example could put pressure on distributors in other countries as some companies have failed to generate sufficient demand for BYD models due to improper positioning or inadequate promotion of electric vehicles.

#Toyota prepares to produce electric vehicles with single-piece chassis! The global giant Toyota Motor Corporation is set to adopt the single-piece chassis design, first used by Tesla four years ago. This method, which enables electric vehicles to be produced with fewer parts, at lower costs, and much faster, is made possible by massive aluminum casting machines. According to a report by Nikkei, Toyota plans to install its first 9,000-ton machine in its factory this year, allowing the production of an 86-piece rear chassis in 100 seconds as a single piece. Toyota's first vehicle with a single-piece chassis will be the Lexus LF-ZC, expected to hit the roads in 2026, with both front and rear chassis produced as single units. The Japanese giant aims to cut vehicle production time by 50% with these new manufacturing techniques, believing that it needs to adopt single-piece chassis to produce electric vehicles as affordably as Tesla and Chinese manufacturers. This approach will also enhance the chassis's strength, providing better protection for the battery.

🔥Xiaomi’s Electric Car Didn’t Catch Fire! Last week in China, the battery of the #Xiaomi SU7 malfunctioned but did not catch fire or explode. In the video of the LFP battery-powered entry version, smoke is seen being vented through the covers on the battery pack. Although the smoke increases and decreases, there is no sign of the battery catching fire. New generation electric vehicles are equipped with systems that facilitate gas release and provide isolation, preventing thermal runaway cells from affecting neighboring cells. This significantly reduces the likelihood of vehicles catching fire. Xiaomi Technology
