The Bravia 7 series TV comes in three screen sizes. We got the 65-inch display unit for review which is priced at Rs 2,29,990. We spent some time with the TV and here’s out review

Sony Bravia 7 series TV boasts of a sleek profile with bezels so thin that they are almost negligible, maximising the screen real estate. The model features a minimalist aesthetic and can easily blend into your home environment, complementing the contemporary living spaces. With the Bravia 7 series, Sony has used the One Slate concept that neatly unifies the screen with bezels, minimising distractions and maximising the viewing experience.

The Sony Bravia 7 series TV comes with a feature called Living Decor. Enabling it turns the TV into an art, adding aesthetics to your living room when the TV is not in use. Rear of the TV looks clean with a vertical slab on the left side for ports that includes 4 HDMI ports, 1 ethernet and 2 USB ports.

The TV can easily be mounted on a table using the aluminium edge stand that comes inside the box. The underlay stand has a thin, flat steel which can be used to stack a soundbar. Overall, the TV looks great with its slim profile.

The Sony Bravia 7 series TV comes in different screen sizes – 55-inch, 65-inch and 75-inch. The TV excels in the display department, impressing with its stunning display technology and offering a fully immersive visual experience. At the heart of the series is Sony’s XR processor which delivers lifelike visuals with exceptional picture quality. This is a mini LED panel with XR Masterlight back drive and XR Contrast Booster that offer deeper blacks, bright highlights and supreme contrast to enhance the picture quality of the TV.
Vivid, Standard, Cinema, Professional, Calm, Photo, IMAX Enhanced, Dolby Vision (Vivid/Bright/Dark/Game), FPS game and RTS game are picture modes available on Sony Bravia 7 Series TV. Colour production is another area where the Bravia 7 series shines. Thanks to Sony’w own Truluminos Pro and XR Clear Image technology, the TV can display a wide gamut of vibrant and accurate colours. The TV delivers richer skin tones, more natural-looking landscapes, and true to life images.

The TV is equipped with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos with adaptive brightness along with XR motion clarity that further enhances the viewing experience on it. Sony’s XR motion clarity technology reduces blur in fast-moving scenes without dimming the screen’s brightness. The TV is compatible with IMAX Enhanced delivering IMAX movie experience. Other features include support for HDR10, ambient optimization, Sony Picture Core and XR 4K Upscaling. With the ambient optimization, the TV adjusts the brightness according to the surroundings. The XR 4K Upscaling enhances the visual quality of the content close to 4K for a superior visual experience.
Sony Bravia 7 series is also equipped with Studio Calibrated modes that reproduce the image quality intended by film creators in a home setting. These include - Netflix Adaptive Calibrated mode, PrimeVideo Calibrated mode and Sony Pictures Core Calibrated mode. This feature delivers optimal picture quality that is automatically calibrated for movies, series and sports.
The TV has a refresh rate of 120Hz with 4K resolution and 178 degree viewing angles. For gaming, the Bravia 7 series offers some appealing features. Sony says that the Bravia 7 series TV is optimised for gaming and is perfect for PlayStation 5. With a low input lag and support for high refresh rates, it delivers a responsive gaming experience. Overall, the Sony Bravia 7 series offers a premium gaming experience with excellent colour production and motion handling among other display features.

Sony Bravia 7 series TV boasts of 4 speakers mounted on side, top and back with 10watt audio output each. In total, the TV has a 40watt sound output. The system includes dual full range bass reflex speakers and two tweeters with X-Balanced design. Further, it boasts of acoustic multi audio that adds two sound-positioning tweeters to provide additional directional cues for the existing speakers. The TV delivers an impressive audio quality with ample amount of bass and loudness.

Sony has added XR Sound positioning and XR Surround technology with the Bravia 7 series that enhances the sense of audio by aligning audio with the on-screen action. The TV also has a Acoustic Centre Sync feature that optimises the Bravia 7 as a centre speaker when paired with a compatible Sony sound bar. The TV also comes with Voice Zoom 3 features that recognizes human dialogue through machine learning and amplifies or reduces its volume to for loud and clear voices.


Sony Bravia 7 Series TV: Software performance


Sony Bravia 7 Series TV is an Android TV that comes powered by Google TV. User interface (UI) of the TV is neat and easy to navigate through. We did not notice any lag in the performance. Switching through the menu and settings is smooth. The TV comes integrated with Apple CarPlay 2 and Homekit enabling users to connect their Apple devices with the TV.
The TV comes with a remote control featuring dedicated buttons for xxxxx. Users can download the Bravia Connect app on their smartphones to adjust volume and other settings. The Bravia 7 series TV also features a dedicated Google Kid’s mode enabling parents to set children-friendly filters for apps, movies and TV shows. With an integrated UI, soundbar sound settings automatically appear on the Bravia Quick Settings menu. Sony has also added support for Bravia Cam offering gesture controls, ambient optimization, and video calls via Google Meet for interactive viewing.
For gaming, the Sony Bravia 7 series TV boasts of features such as auto low latency mode (ALLM) and variable refresh rate (VRR) with 4K/120fps. The TV is also equipped with Auto HDR Tone Mapping, which automatically adjusts HDR settings for the best picture quality during gaming. Sony says that the TV is optimised for the PS5. A key feature of it is the Auto HDR Tone Mapping optimises HDR settings instantly during PS5 initial setup. Further, users can remotely control their PS5 or PS4 console from another room using the PS Remote Play app. Sony Bravia 7 Series TV has a dedicated Game-menu that allows users to tailor their settings like turning on or off VRR or Motion Blur Reduction with quick access.
