iPhone 16 series launched: Complete specifications, price in India, and how to pre-order

Apple iPhone 16 series is now official. The series comprises of four phones -- iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. This year, Apple packs the 2024 iPhone lineup with a host of new features including a new Camera Control button and Apple Intelligence rolling out with iOS18. While the standard models -- iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are powered by A18 Bionic chipset, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max come with A18 Pro Bionic chip.All four devices run on iOS 18 operating system that was announced in June this year. The standard model iPhone 16 is offered in three storage models – 128GB, 256GB and 512GB. It comes with a starting price of Rs 79,900. Similarly, the Plus models – iPhone 16 Plus carries a price tag of Rs 89,900 (base model).
In the Pro category, the iPhone 16 Pro comes with a starting price of Rs 1,19,900. Apple iPhone 16 Pro Max, on the other hand, is priced at Rs 1,44,900.


Pre-orders for iPhone 16 series start September 13 at 5:30pm. Those interested can head to Apple India store along with Flipkart, Amazon, and other stores to pre-order your favorite iPhone 16 series model.

Coming to the display, the iPhone 16 features a 6.1-inch Retina XDR OLED display, while the Plus model has a bigger 6.7-inch Retina XDR OLED screen.

Apple has bumped up the screen size of iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max to 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch Retina XDR OLED screens.
Apple iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus come in Black, White, Pink, Teal and Ultramarine colour variants. While the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are offered in Black Titanium, White Titanium, Natural Titanium and Desert Titanium colour variants.


Both iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are equipped with 48MP Fusion camera on the rear paired with a 48MP ultra-wide camera and a 12MP telephoto camera. Users can capture 4K120 fps in Slo-mo or Video mode, and adjust the playback speed after capture in the Photos app.

While the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus offer 48MP Fusion camera and 12MP ultra-wide camera on the rear. The Ultra Wide camera gathers up to 2.6x more light for higher image quality. Additionally, iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus now take spatial photos and videos.

All four phones under the iPhone 16 series boast of a 12MP TrueDepth camera at the front for selfies and video calls.

Apple iPhone 16 series will run on iOS 18 operating system. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are powered by A18 Bionic chipset which is claimed to come with an upgraded 16-core Neural Engine, optimized for large generative models and runs ML models up to 2x faster than the A16 Bionic chip. The new A18 chip delivers a huge leap in performance and efficiency, enabling demanding AAA games, as well as a big boost in battery life. The 6-core CPU is 30 percent faster than the A16 Bionic chip and faster than all the competition. It is also more power efficient and can run the same workload with 30 percent less power than A16 Bionic. The 5-core GPU is up to 40 percent faster and 35 percent more efficient than A16 Bionic to power stunning graphics performance for Apple Intelligence.
While the Pro models – iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are equipped with A18 Pro chipset with 6-core GPU, which is up to 20 percent faster than the previous generation, driving graphics rendering for Apple Intelligence and stunning visuals for gaming. Apple says that the new 16-core Neural Engine is faster and more efficient than the previous generation, powering remarkable on-device performance for Apple Intelligence. "A 17 percent increase in total system memory bandwidth — the highest ever in iPhone — enables faster experiences when using Writing Tools and Image Playground, and helps deliver astounding graphics," the company added.
As far as the battery is concerned, all four phones - iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max come equipped with built‑in rechargeable lithium‑ion battery. The devices also offer MagSafe wireless charging up to 25W with 30W adapter or higher.
