Kareena Kapoor Khan is gearing up to thrill her fans again with her upcoming crime-thriller 'The Buckingham Murders', set to release on September 13, 2024. The trailer was launched today, September 3, at an event in Mumbai, where Kareena was joined by producer Ektaa Kapoor and director
Hansal Mehta. During the event, Mehta humorously shared how Kareena used to ignore him when they lived in the same residential building.
When Hansal Mehta expressed his gratitude to Ektaa Kapoor for bringing Kareena on board.
He remarked that only an accomplished producer like Ektaa could have made it happen.
Hansal Mehta humorously shared at the trailer launch that without Ektaa Kapoor, he wouldn't have even met Kareena Kapoor Khan. Recalling their past, Mehta mentioned that they once lived in the same building, but Kareena would often walk past him on her way to Christmas parties. He would stand there, amazed, wondering, "Kareena Kapoor just took the lift!"
As the filmmaker further playfully recalled his early encounters with Kareena Kapoor Khan, he also praised her as one of the finest actors in the industry today. He emphasized that although her stardom attracts audiences to cinemas, it's her exceptional performances that will keep her legacy alive even after 25 or 50 years. "Stardom can fluctuate, but your talent will never die," Mehta stated, calling Kareena an absolute powerhouse.
During the event, Bebo, who is making her production debut with The Buckingham Murders, praised Hansal Mehta, calling him 'the captain of the ship.' She credited him for his direction and how he made her feel comfortable on set. Kareena expressed her love for the story and script, stating that there was no one better than Mehta to bring this content-rich film to life. “He has stuck to the authenticity of the film,” Kareena said.
'The Buckingham Murders' also stars Ranveer Brar, Ash Tandon, and Keith Allen, among others. The film premiered internationally at the 67th BFI London Film Festival on October 14, 2023. It had also been screened at the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival. Kareena has also turned producer with this film, as she's co-produced it with Ekta. Additionally, the first song from the film's soundtrack, titled 'Sada Pyaar Tut Gaya', has been released.
