- Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2016Style: Dog Ttraining DeviceVerified PurchaseFirst I bought the aetertek training collar...despite numerous bad reviews. It was a POS. Was going to return but my boyfriend lost the remote for it. So we found these ones and thought they looked very nice. Got this one because of the bark limiter...not really sure how that works since I don't think my dog is loud enough for it to pick it up. But the rest works great. You have to find a setting that works for you. There's low stimulation setting and high. Read the manual. It's not difficult to grasp. Stays charged for a very long time so far. But we take it off in the evening and charge. The remote has yet to leave the full charge indication. This one just looks so much better and higher quality than half the other training colors out there. And I like how the remote is sleek and not bulky. The collar also has an indicator light to let you know its working. So that is great if you think it isn't...that happened to us once...Our dog ran after squirrels...luckily no cars driving through the neighborhood. Scary stuff. Will always make sure it is synced before we put it on. The manual even gives you training tips.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2019Style: Dog Ttraining DeviceVerified PurchaseMy sweet pup is my baby. She knows she owns ME & we are so bonded after 3 years since I found her at a shelter.. , but she doesn’t fear/respect me, not CARS. She doesn’t listen to me when it’s most important. She’s an inside dog.. At my house I have a fenced yard and she has escaped due to my negligence & the chase is ON. But that rarely happens.. it’s at my bf’s acreage (no fence) when she’s playing with his dog.. all of a sudden, on a whim she would decide to run like a maniac without regard of oncoming traffic. She’s had me gasping for breathe in a chase, in tears, begging her to come back. Only if I could corner her would she finally drop to her belly & give up., the whole “do what you want & ask for forgiveness, not for permission” game. I wish I’d listened to my bf earlier when he said she needs a shock collar, and a GOOD one. One with long range because she’s FAST. ENTER this Garmin. I only put it on her when we visit .. when she’d decide to take off, I literally used to run all the way to the street & stop traffic till she was back safe. We have yet to test the true range because it did not take long for her to learn the consequences of a zap.. she has become the BEST behaved dog now.. I only put it on her when she’s going to be lose.. it has to be on pretty tight & with the long metal to reach through the fur on her neck. It’s not to be left on all the time.. that’s the only time you can damage your dogs skin., so if you see pics depicting bad skin injuries don’t blame the device, blame the Owner!! this is only meant to be a TRAINING collar for hours at a time. My ONLY wish is that the handheld control was smaller & lighter weight. I do have to have the controller around MY neck when she has the training collar on her neck. I need to have it close at hand if she decides to run off. So Garmin please make a lighter & smaller controller even if it has less options? I wish I’d gotten this sooner because I’m so lucky that she was never hit by a car & now I know she is safe. All I have to do is hit the buzz & she turns around & comes back. I don’t zap/shock her until after buzzing first. It WORKS!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2021Style: Dog Ttraining DeviceVerified PurchaseLove this product! I was so stressed out for various reasons with my dog. He was 6-7 months old so a big 60 pound puppy. Barking when we were spending time in the front yard, chewing up my patio set, the trampoline netting etc. I called my dad to see if a family member wanted him and we talked for awhile. He suggested I try everything I can first. So I got lots of chew toys, giving him a raw bone marrow bone, and a Kong stuff bone. I also got this collar. The reason I chose this one was because it was the ONLY good quality collar I found that had the bark limiter that is continuous for when he is barking while we are in the front yard PLUS the training collar for if he is chewing on items in the back or jumping on family when they are over.
Tremendous change since I have this collar. He knows when it’s on and does not bark while I am in the front yard chatting with neighbors etc. he chewed on my patio set for the last time and has not touched it since. He really knows his boundaries now and I can happily say we will be keeping him for his entire life. He is turning 9months tomorrow and is 70lbs! He has respect for the word leave it/drop it now and I don’t use the collar every day like I did. I mainly use it when we have guests over so he knows to be on his best behavior. If you are struggling I highly recommend this specific collar. It is water proof, it does not shock randomly at all, it has different training modes and great battery life. I would say with full charge it lasts about a week. The remote battery hasn’t been charged since I got it and is still full battery. I only recommend this to responsible dog owners. It’s not a means to shock or hurt your animal, it’s a tool to help you train your dog and yourself with consistent training. It was just one piece of the puzzle I needed to help my buddy out.

Easy to use and change settings. It is expensive, but after a TON of research, I decided on this one and I am glad I did. Mostly needed to work on barking and recall and this collar has helped immensely! Batteries on the remote last FOREVER but I charge the collar unit nightly. I did forget to turn it off or charge overnight a few times and it lasted through the next day. Overall I'd say you get 2 days off a charge, depending on how much you're using it. The only thing I can say that is negative about it is that the no bark feature doesn't work well. I'm guessing that it is because on my dog the collar rarely sits with the unit in the proper place for long (she's got a fair amount of extra neck skin lol).

5.0 out of 5 stars Working on my stubborn, reactive pup
Style: Dog Ttraining DeviceVerified PurchaseAs a bit of backstory, my rescue doberman mix is extremely reactive and stubborn. His name is Riddick, as it turns out this was a very appropriate name. This dog couldn't care if you offer him snacks, toys, love or anything in exchange for his behavior. My hubby and I have literally put a hot dog right in front of his nose to try and get him to listen - he couldn't care less. Needless to say, training recall has been... well impossible. He is smart enough to know what he is being asked, but also stubborn enough not to do it, just because you told him to. Riddick also is the dog that looses his mind, as in tries to remove a limb, when people he doesn't know come over, or if he even sees a stranger, bicycle, skateboard, roller blades, motorcycles (the list goes on) while on walks or in his yard. Not good.
SO! My parents have this for their stubborn Collie and have had incredible results with her. During a visit with them we outfit him with hers. Guess who within the same day now comes when he is called? Riddick does! He often has to be reminded with the tone feature, but rarely has to elevate to vibrate or shock. We ordered our own and it was waiting on our doorstep the day we got home. We are still working on those aggressive tendencies, but are seeing some improvement.
The reason this one is such a premium, in my opinion is that this can reach a large distance and is water resistant. Any feature you need is basically available on this. You can change the pattern of the buttons (and therefore what happens when its on bark) to a variety of combinations. We like tone, vibrate, shock. You can also adjust how much shock there is over a wide range, anywhere from a little tickle right up to smoke (1-18). Smoking the dog really isn't that bad, we have tried it on us, and my brother-in-law, before we put it on the dog. It is a very firm reminder that you've been given an instruction. Additionally, you can add 3 collars with the one remote, so if we ever need one for our other dog, we don't need so many hands, and it will be cheaper. There seems to be many replacement parts available so unlike if a cheaper product gets broken, fixing is an option instead of replacing the whole unit. The battery also lasts forever! So you can take it camping for the weekend and still have charge to get through the whole thing. Keeping in mind, we take it off at bedtime, and he gets it back in the morning.
We did find that with the bark, we find it difficult to keep the collar properly positioned so that bark is useful. I believe this is more due to how Riddick's neck is shaped. Riddick has a giraffe neck and it goes from thicker to thinner with the smallest feature being his head, so his regular collar he can slip out of if he pleases. This is harder for him to do, but it doesn't seem to stop it from sliding to and fro on each side of his neck.
Completely recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny.
Style: Dog Ttraining DeviceVerified PurchaseThis training collar is pricey but worth it. Our dog is almost a year old and was having barking issues when we left him on his own which isn't very often. We were concerned about annoying our neighbours so we tried this collar along with the furbo dog camera so we could see what was happening with the collar and the dog when we weren't home. This collar cured the barking in no time. We're also using it with the hand held device for training with walks. It's been absolutely amazing. We found the instructions a bit confusing but once we had that figured out, it's been nothing but steady, positive progress.

5.0 out of 5 stars Effective training tool.
Style: Dog Ttraining DeviceVerified PurchaseI used this to train my very Alfa, high energy and aggressive king shepherd. It worked so well that I haven’t needed to use it for over six months now. He has learned that my commands are not a request. And he is unleashed all the time now. And is a happy dog.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product but bark limiter does not work as advertised
Style: Dog Ttraining DeviceVerified PurchaseGreat build quality and range. I would highly recommend for general training purposes. However, the reason why I'm only giving this four stars is because, unfortunately, the bark limiter did not work as advertised. The bark limiter often failed to activate during barks but would sometimes correct my dog for other vocalizations that sound nothing like barks. Garmin advertises this product as being able to distinguish between barks and other sounds but it seems that this feature is not reliable. Because I was most interested in this unit for bark correction purposes, it did not meet my needs and I had to return it.
