Captain America is undoubtedly strong, but The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes actually proved that the Marvel hero could defeat the Avengers under the right circumstances. The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes was an animated series that ran from 2010 to 2012. It featured the original Avengers roster, consisting of Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Ant-Man and the Wasp, who were later joined by more characters. One of the heroes who joins some episodes in Earth's Mightiest Heroes is Captain America, which is no surprise considering his importance to the team in both the comics and the movies.
Throughout the animated Avengers show, the team faces a multitude of villains. As a series aimed primarily at a younger audience, there was often a pretty clear line between the good and evil forces in most of the stories. However, the Avengers' fight against each other is a topic that many adaptations decide to tackle – from the MCU timeline to broader Marvel movies and shows – and The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes it was no different. This serves to explain why a Captain America moment in Season 1 shows the character fighting the Avengers, and even dominating them.
Earth's Mightiest Heroes saw Cap take on the entire Avengers roster
In The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes Season 1, Episode 9, the Avengers find Captain America's frozen body in the Arctic. His body is thawed, just as it would be in the MCU film, and he is brought into the modern era. However, Captain America's version of Earth's Mightiest Heroes has a much more aggressive reaction when waking up decades later. He immediately assumes that the Avengers are agents of HYDRA and begins fighting them..
Captain America manages to overpower most of the heroes, even taking down the Helicarrier they are on. As the Avengers try to calm Cap down on land, he finally stops fighting when he sees the statue commemorating him and Bucky Barnes. It's only a brief fight and Steve realizes that the Avengers are allies, but it's a demonstration of all of Captain America's powers against the team – although the beating he delivers comes under some very specific circumstances.
Captain America's Avenger fight has an unfair advantage
The fact that Captain America was able to overpower several members of the Avengers says a lot about his strength levels, but the fact that it wasn't a completely fair fight should also be taken into consideration. Knowing that Steve is an ally meant that they wouldn't really want to hurt him, and they knew that too. his aggressive reaction was out of fear and confusion. The fight they fought was purely for defense, which meant the Avengers likely weren't using their full power.
As the Avengers wanted to subdue Cap, they were holding back. On the other hand, Steve gave it his all thinking he was fighting enemies. Even though he is strong on his own, he had an unfair advantage in the fight since the Avengers weren't actually trying to fight him. He caught the team off guard as they weren't expecting a fight in the first place. Whether Captain America would have been able to defeat the Avengers at full strength is a question, but his display of power in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes Still, it was impressive.
