Professor of Hydrology and Climate Risk, University of Adelaide

Dr Seth Westra has ten years experience in flood hydrology, reservoir modelling, seasonal forecasting of rainfall and streamflow, and climate change impact assessments. Seth holds a PhD which focused on identifying sources of climate-related variability in rainfall and streamflow, and using this information for water security assessments.

Current research areas include analysing extreme rainfall and flood risk under climate change scenarios, water security assessments, and evaluation of the capabilities of global climate models to simulate the hydrological cycle. Seth currently working on a project examining Adelaide's water security under a future climate. Seth is also actively contributing to the revision of the Australian Rainfall and Runoff flood guidelines, including work on understanding extreme rainfall patterns as well as the investigating the coincidence of extreme rainfall and coastal storm surge for coastal flood assessments.
