Alex Nurse leads research on local and urban governance. He has published on sub-national governance in England post-Brexit, levelling up, urban planning (the 20-minute and 15-minute city theories, active travel, blue and green space, cycling and walking infrastructure), city regionalism, environmental urbanism and community-led governance.
He has lead research on urban cycling, including how we can get more people riding bikes in cities and how COVID-19 has changed the way we travel around our cities.
His latest book, Rescaling Urban Governance: Planning, Localism and Institutional Change, was published on Policy Press in 2020.
