Mother's Day and Queen Sirikit's Birthday 🙇🏻♀️🙇🏻 - Date: August 12 - Significance: This day is celebrated as both Mother's Day and the birthday of Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother of Thailand. - Events: The city is decorated with lights and portraits of the Queen. Ceremonies and public activities are held, including offerings to monks, parades, and cultural performances. Many people participate in charitable activities and make merit in honor of their mothers and the Queen. Phi Ta Khon 💃🏻🕺🏻 - Date: This year this event is hold from 20th to 22nd of August - Significance: Phi Ta Khon, also known as the Ghost Festival, is a unique event that blends religious and animist beliefs. Participants dress in colorful, ghost-like costumes and masks. - Events in Bangkok: While the main festival happens in Dan Sai, Loei province, Bangkok often hosts related cultural exhibitions and performances, showcasing the vibrant masks and costumes. Lets dive in deeper to Thailand cuisine and discover what you miss: 1️⃣ Jim Jum (จิ้มจุ่ม) Think of it as the Thai version of a cozy, mini hot tub party for your food. Jim Jum is a hot pot filled with a herby broth where you dunk thin slices of meat, veggies, tofu, and noodles. It’s like a culinary spa day. Cooking your own food at the table is like being a chef without the pressure. Plus, that herby broth smells so good it might just make your nose dance. 2️⃣ Plah Kah Pung Neung Manow (ปลากะพงนึ่งมะนาว) Imagine a whole fish getting a luxurious spa treatment with a zesty lime sauce massage. This steamed seabass dish is served with a tangy, spicy lime sauce that’ll make your taste buds do the cha-cha. Fresh fish + tangy lime sauce = a flavor bomb in your mouth.
