Edward A Chamberlain
Associate Professor of Cultural Studies at the University of Washington Tacoma. As an interdisciplinary scholar, I examine representation of ethnicity, food, gender, migration, and sexual identity in the Americas and Caribbean. My new book - Imagining Latinx Intimacies - is a set of related studies involving visual art, experimental writing, poetry, and personal narratives. My research also explores the social dimensions of intellectuals and artists such as Gloria Anzaldúa, Audre Lorde, Guillermo del Toro, and Jamaica Kincaid. My studies also have considered textual and visual narratives concerning the spaces of cultural groups such as artists and intellectuals from Chile, Antigua, México, Puerto Rico, and the mainland United States. Through these studies, I explain how cultural artifacts tell stories and create blueprints for alternatives beyond the challenges of our present day. During the past decade, I have taught classes that focus on matters of class, ethnicity, food, gender, genre, narrative, and sexual identity. In the year 2012, I completed my Ph.D. in American Studies and Comparative Literature at Indiana University Bloomington. In 2003, I completed a dual B.A. in Spanish and English at The College of New Jersey. (he/they/él pronouns)
