Diskussion:Reformjudendom
Hur kan rörelsen ha uppkommit under artonhundratalets andra hälft och vuxit sig stark i Amerika under tidigt 1800-tal?
I'm sorry for the English and for bothering you. We in Hebrew wikipedia have tried to sort the mess abound across the wikis in regards to the non-Orthodox forms of Judaism. Anyway, the problem is as follows: the religious worldview of Abraham Geiger and his supporters, which coalesced in Germany in the 1840's, was called Liberal Judaism in Germany. It continued in a more radical, but theoretically identical way in America, where it is known as Reform Judaism. Claude Montefiore in Britain founded a group along basically similar lines - he is a follower of "Geigrian" thought, which is too complicated to explain right now - called Liberal Judaism over there. These groups, which share the same theological/philosophical tenets (though they vary greatly in marginal things like practice), founded the World Union for Progressive Judaism in 1926. Since then, the Reconstructionists in America - which are a small, distinct group with a very different theology - joined the WUPJ. What I'm trying to say is that Liberal and Reform are indeed basically identical, and you can merge the article into "Reform Judaism". The English interwiki of Liberal Judaism is "Progressive Judaism", which once could have been ideal instead of Reform/Liberal but now means nothing in particular due to the Reconstructionists. We're trying to correct that across the wikis. Cheers, and thanks for the article!מהמברטה (diskussion) 30 juni 2014 kl. 14.01 (CEST)
