You can use a screen reader, keyboard shortcuts, and other features to make your Google Maps experience more accessible.
Use a screen reader
You can use Google Maps with these browsers and screen readers:
- Chrome with ChromeVox on Chromebooks
- Firefox with NVDA or JAWS on Windows
- Safari with VoiceOver on Mac
Use your keyboard
- On your computer, open Google Maps.
- On your keyboard, press Tab until the map is in focus.
- A portion of the map will be highlighted with a square. Below the square, there will be a numbered list of places in that area. From here, you can:
- Move around the map: Use the arrow keys. Tip: To move the map by one square, hold Shift and press the arrow keys.
- Zoom in or out of the map: Press the Plus (+) or Minus (-) keys .
- Learn more about a place: Press the number associated with the place.
- Tip: If there are more than 7 places in the highlighted area:
- Press 9 to view more places.
- Press 8 to return to previous places.
Find keyboard shortcuts
- On your computer, open Google Maps.
- Press Ctrl + /. A list of shortcuts will appear on your screen.
Find accessible transit
- On your computer, open Google Maps.
- In the search bar, enter your destination.
- In the list of results, click the location you want.
- Click Directions Transit .
- Click Options.
- Under "Routes," click Wheelchair accessible.
- Choose your route.
Enlarge your map
- On your computer, open Google Maps.
- Make sure your map is in focus.
- To enlarge information on a map through page zoom, use your keyboard.
- To zoom in: Press Ctrl and +, or ⌘ and +.
- To zoom out: Press Ctrl + -, or ⌘ + -.
- To reset: Press Ctrl + 0, or ⌘ + 0.
