Phillies Scoreboard
It takes time to build a winning team. And after two years of preparation to install the new scoreboard for the Philadelphia Phillies, winning—ironically—challenged the project team to work together to overcome an especially tight deadline.
Since 2021, LF Driscoll has been working with the Philadelphia Phillies and EwingCole to prepare for the installation of the new scoreboard at Citizens Bank Park. Our prep work began in late summer of 2022, which meant construction could start just as baseball’s regular season ended. However, the Phillies began a play-off run, culminating in a World Series run, which delayed the start of major construction by over a month. This happy delay didn’t push the end date, however, so the entire project team met in weekly schedule pull-planning sessions to figure out how to expedite and coordinate the sequenced work to have the new scoreboard in place before the 2023 regular season began in April.
The design features new signage all around the scoreboard to help boost the overall fan experience without significantly changing the current stadium appearance. The infrastructure upgrades to support the new scoreboard included adding new structural steel to accommodate the larger size, and new mechanical and electrical systems to support new functions. The team also included a new corrugated metal panel façade and compatible roofing system to match the existing enclosure, plus updated server and control rooms built in tandem with the scoreboard construction.
With its 16:9 aspect ratio—a standard for high-quality widescreen viewing—the new scoreboard offers a modern, state-of-the-art display for fans to root, root, root for the home team.
