Kontrolisano spaljivanje
Kontrolisano spaljivanje je proces u kome se spaljuju čvrste, tečne ili gasovite sagorljive otpadne materije pri čemu se one prevode gasovite proizvode i ostatak koji sadrži vrlo male količine ili ne sadrži nikakve dodatne sagorljive supstance.[1]
Spaljivanje (insineracija) opasnog otpada u insineratoru teorijski obezbeđuje alternativu za deponovanje otpada na kopnene deponije ili u more. U praksi međutim ,ako procesi u peći insineratora nisu u potpunosti kontrolisani, mnoge supstance se transformišu u štetnije agense ,kao što je dioksin, i ispuštaju se u vazduh. Insineratorima obično upravljaju lokalne vlasti ili privatna komunalna preduzeća ,tamo gdje ne postoji dovoljna raspoloživa površina za odlaganje otpada ,npr: U Japanu i u Evropi.[1]
