How to watch LSU women’s basketball’s Cayman Islands Classic opener against Niagara

Fresh off a win over Texas Southern to move to 5-1 on the season, the No. 7 LSU women’s basketball team is leaving the country to take part in the Cayman Islands Classic this weekend, in which it will face Niagara on Friday and Virginia on Saturday.

First up is the 2-2 Purple Eagles, which come in off a win against Stonehill. They’re 2-2 overall on the season having taken losses to Duquesne and Buffalo. The matchup against the Tigers will be their first against a power conference opponent this season.

As coach Kim Mulkey’s team looks to extend its five-game winning streak, here’s what you need to know to watch the Tigers’ first game in the islands.

How to Watch

Injury Report

LSU is healthy entering this game.

What Kim Mulkey said

Per an LSU release:

“When you go on trips like this, most of us have never been to these places so you’re going to mix a little pleasure with work,” Coach Kim Mulkey said. “We’ll do Stingray City. A lot of them will get to see their families, myself included. It’s Thanksgiving and let’s not forget that. It’s a special time of the year.”

Players to Watch

  • Rebounds — F Sa’Myah Smith (8.5 RPG)

  • Assists — G Hailey Van Lith (4.7 APG)

  • Steals — F Aneesah Morrow (3.8 SPG)

  • Blocks — F Sa’Myah Smith (1.5 BPG)

Niagara

  • Points — G Aaliyah Parker (14.7 PPG)

Prediction

LSU continues to look like the team it was projected to be preseason since the loss to Colorado, even in the last two games without Angel Reese. The game against Virginia on Saturday will be an interesting test against a power conference foe, but I don’t expect the Tigers to have many issues with the Purple Eagles.

Prediction: LSU 95, Niagara 50
