Valdosta High hoops hosting Titletown Tip-Off Saturday
Nov. 17—VALDOSTA — Eight of Georgia's top boys and girls basketball teams will be at Valdosta High Saturday for the Titletown Tip-Off Classic.
Action begins at 2:30 p.m. with Ware County taking on Groves. Dougherty is to face Johnson of Savannah at 4 p.m., with Mitchell County colliding with Upson-Lee at 5:30. All feature boys teams.
The main event has Valdosta taking on Houston County in a doubleheader, the girls playing at 7 p.m. and the boys at 8:30.
Valdosta's Wildcats were a 16-11 team a year ago, reaching the Sweet 16 of the Class 7A state tournament. Led by Alabama signee Essence Cody, the Lady 'Cats went 17-11 and reached the state tournament.
World of Fades Barbershop is presenting the event.
Valdosta will have a few road games following Titletown, including at Cook Nov. 24 and Brooks County Nov. 28. The Wildcats will be home against Dec. 2 against Tift County, with more home games Dec. 6 against Cook and Dec. 8 against Westover in their early weeks.
