(KTXL) – Sacramento State infielder Gunner Gouldsmith possibly won’t have to go far whenever he makes his Major League debut.

Gouldsmith was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 19th round of the 2024 MLB Draft on Tuesday.

Only time will time if and when Gouldsmith will make his MLB debut for the A’s, who are temporary relocating to West Sacramento for three seasons prior to their planned move to Las Vegas in 2028.

Gouldsmith is the 29th Hornet to be drafted or sign a professional contract under current Sacramento State baseball coach Reggie Christiansen since 2011, according to the program.

The A’s selection of Gouldsmith marks the 18th consecutive year that a Sacramento State baseball player has been drafted or signed.

Gouldsmith started all 57 games for the Hornets in 2024, batting a team-high .318 along with career highs in home runs (four), RBI (38) and runs scored (37) as a senior.
