MLB stars of tomorrow blast eight home runs in 2018 Futures Game
Power is already on the rise in Major League Baseball, and that’s not going to stop any time soon. The 2018 Futures Game showed that the stars of tomorrow can mash with the best of them. Both clubs combined for an incredible eight home runs as Team USA topped the World 10-6.
Eight home runs smashed at Futures Game
The two teams didn’t wait long to start launching baseballs. Kansas City Royals outfielder Seuly Matias got things started in the second inning, belting the first home run of the contest to tie things up at 1-1.
The next inning saw Chicago White Sox outfielder Luis Alexander Basabe somehow turn around on a 102 mph fastball to drive it out of the park.

In the fourth, Toronto Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen and Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes each went yard.
Dodgers outfielder Yusniel Diaz smacks two home runs in Futures Game
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yusniel Diaz popped a two-run shot in the fifth. He would add his second home run of the game in the seventh. In between those two shots, Cincinnati Reds outfielder Taylor Trammell added a solo home run.

Mets prospect Peter Alonso hits most impressive home run of Futures Game
The most impressive dinger was the last one. New York Mets first baseman Peter Alonso blasted a solo home run deep to left field for easily the farthest home run of the game.

Reds pitcher Hunter Greene lights up radar gun in Futures Game
While Basabe tagged him for a home run, Cincinnati Reds pitcher Hunter Greene showed an unbelievable fastball during the contest.
Hunter Greene is firing bullets that are getting turned around just as impressively by the World's hitters.
He's an 18-year-old from low Class A pitching in the futures game who just threw: 100.9, 102.4, 101.7, 102.3, 102.4, 103.1, 102.1, 102.3. 101.1, 100.0, 101.9.

Greene is just 18 years old and consistently hit 100 mph in the appearance. He was the second-overall pick in the 2017 MLB Draft by the Reds. Greene has a 4.69 ERA in Class A, but has struck out 80 hitters in 63 1/3 innings.
Team USA defeats Team World in 2018 Futures Game
Both teams hit four home runs a piece, but it was Team USA that triumphed in the end. Trammell’s home run gave the team the lead, and it never looked back. And speaking of Trammell …
Reds outfielder Taylor Trammell takes home 2018 Futures Game MVP
Trammell’s go-ahead home run resulted in him winning the Futures Game MVP. The 20-year-old finished 2-for-2, with a home run, a triple and two runs scored. The game featured a lot of offense, but it was evenly spread out among members of Team USA. A number of candidates could have taken home the honor, but Trammell’s triple proved to be the difference.
