Joe Burrow in the Olympics? QB excited about flag football joining 2028 Games

Is Joe Burrow Olympics-bound?

The Bengals quarterback spoke about the prospect in an interview with Glenn Cole at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in France last month. In a video posted June 24, the pair discuss the debut of flag football at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

"I think it's exciting," Burrow told Cole. "I think it's going to be great for the game. ... That would be exciting to play in, that'd be a lot of fun. Especially when I think, the Olympics is such an international brand. But when that starts to happen, that's going to really grow the game a lot."

The International Olympic Committee voted on the addition of flag football during a session held in Mumbai, India, in October. It will mark American football's first ever appearance in the Olympic Games, the NFL reported.

Flag football is a no-contact game, with "tackles" being made by removing flags attached to players' waists. According to The Associated Press, games would be five-on-five, with no offensive or defensive lineman playing, and would take place on a 50-yard field.

The Olympics reports that the United States is the pre-eminent nation in flag football, having won the last four men's World Championship titles and taking gold at the 2022 World Games.
