There’s no denying it: Javy Baez makes watching baseball better.

The Chicago Cubs second baseman, who is also part of that fantastic Puerto Rico infield in the World Baseball Classic, showed us again just how entertaining he can be on the baseball diamond. Last time it was laying down a slick tag, this time it was the opposite — contorting his body to evade a tag.

It happened during Puerto Rico’s semifinal win Monday against the Netherlands in Los Angeles. He was out by a couple feet, but turned his body mid-slide, switched hands and got in there. Let’s cut to the video proof:

Baez was initially called out, but a review deemed him safe. Here’s a slowed-down version that makes it look even more impressive. That’s some “Matrix”-level movement there.

To show that he’s not just great in tag situations, enjoy this great relay by the Puerto Rican team to cut down a run at the plate. It’s great all around. Angel Pagan started it off. Baez is in the middle with the quick relay and throw. Then there’s Yadier Molina cleanly fielding the throw and applying the tag.

Show that to some kids learning relays, so they can see how it’s done.
