Bills defensive tackle Marcell Dareus returned to the team Thursday after leaving midweek to return to Birmingham after learning his younger brother, 19-year-old Simeon Gilmore, was a victim in a triple homicide in Pelham, Ala.

Dareus said he plans to play Sunday against Kansas City.

"I got back here today and received warm greetings from all the players. I got caught up with everything and got acclimated with the game plan," he said. "I am focused. I know I have a lot of things going on off the field, but I am here and ready to play. I have 60 more brothers here and ready to support me as well."

The incident took place Sunday in a residence and 22-year-olds Casey Cumberland and Joshua Smith were also victims according to CBS 42 in Birmingham.

"Right now is a tough time for me and my family," Dareus said. "I can't express how I am feeling right now, but I will go out on the field and give it my all on Sunday.

"I am ready to continue to prepare for this week's game with my family here. Then I will go home and be with my family."

The No. 3 overall pick in the 2011 draft, the former Alabama star was raised in part by his godfather, Lester "Sarge" Reasor. He became the legal guardian to Dareus and five other children in the family with Dareus' mother died two years ago after a long battle with numerous health issues.
