Charges dismissed against man accused of stealing Steelers QB Kenny Pickett's SUV
Oct. 31—Charges were dismissed Monday against a Murrysville man who had been accused by police of taking Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett's SUV from a car dealership in Monroeville.
Court records show charges were dismissed by District Judge Jeffrey L. Herbst. Christopher Carter, 60, who had been scheduled for a preliminary hearing Monday, paid $3,000 in restitution.
Monroeville police said Pickett was at Bowser Chevrolet on Route 286 on May 24 doing some advertising work. Carter also was at the dealership for about two hours and left his own vehicle there when Pickett's 2023 Hyundai Genesis went missing. Investigators relied on surveillance video to make an arrest.
When police found the SUV in Carter's driveway, it had scratches and scuffs that previously were not there, according to court papers. Pickett's playbook, which was in the SUV, was returned to him.
