Discussion

[edit]

To continue the discussion started at the Village Pump...

You are right, Werdan7, I didn't realize that the earth globes would have to be too small to be used as all 5 zeros. However, I think the numbering in #1 can be made larger by superimposing it over the logo like I saw in versions of the Wikipedia logo (see the 50,000 one below). Instead of describing the other concepts I was thinking of (as I did previously), I made a few other quick prototypes (#2 through #4). In #2, I tried to use the earth as a substitute for the "thousands-separator" (comma or decimal point depending on the language) without making it so small to be unrecognizable, but I don't know if it really works. I'm not an artist/designer... --Georgeryp 15:36, 17 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Poll

[edit]

Can we have a vote on the proposals please. There seem to be no more candidates. And 100,000 is arriving rapidly. I don't think we need oppose votes, so just state your support under one of the following:
(images will be reconstructed at proper resolution upon election)
poll will end when we reach 100,000 articles, unless there is a tie.

We passed 100,000 articles this Sunday, so voting is now closed (unless there are objections?) A review of the history of this page for Sunday showed that Candidate #5 had the most votes (6). Candidate #2 was in second place and did not achieve a tie until after Sunday.

Support -Georgeryp 02:01, 21 May 2007 (UTC) Good use of actual Wikispecies subject matter for the numbers! (Although, not to make more work for the artist, but would the "100000" be seen more clearly/explicitly as a "special" part of the logo if it: 1) Did not touch the tops of the "Wikispecies" letters and/or 2) The "10000" images had something like a gold-colored "drop shadow" effect? In other words, similar to how in design #1 uses stars to denote a "special edition" logo... just a suggestion... I'm probably being too picky ;-) --Georgeryp 02:24, 21 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
