A True Disney College Program Love Story
Creating happiness and changing lives are at the core of what we do here at Disney. Just ask Disney Programs Representative Jacob, who found love back on his Disney College Program. And the best part of this story is that he is now engaged to his Disney Programs sweetheart!
Jacob and his now fiancé LeiLoni’s love story began on the very first day of their Disney College Program. “We were connected through a group chat where we planned a group dinner at Artist's Palette (at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort) on the night of our arrival day. That was the first time we met in person, and we ended up just hanging out every day that week,” Jacob explained. At the time, Jacob was starting his college program at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, working in outdoor foods, while Leiloni was working merchandise at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. These frequent meetings between the two program participants eventually transformed into a relationship, and as they say, the rest is history! But wait, this story gets even more magical.
A special moment unfolded during Jacob’s Disney Program Representative interview process. A Disney Program Representative is a seasonal role where college students work with the Disney Programs recruitment team and their school's career services office to market and promote Disney Internships & Programs to other students at their university. This program allows college students to serve as Disney ambassadors on their campuses.
Throughout Jacob’s interview, he really impressed his recruiter with his skills, but what added an unexpected twist to the day was a conversation between Jacob and a recruiter in the waiting room. During their chat, Jacob casually mentioned his plan to propose to his girlfriend right after the interview. He shared that he had reservations at The Hollywood Brown Derby later that evening, hoping for a positive response. Moved by Jacob's story, his recruiter decided to add a touch of Disney magic to his proposal plans. With a quick call to a friend at Hollywood Studios, the recruiter arranged for a surprise complimentary dessert to be sent to Jacob and his soon-to-be fiancé that very night.
Jacob and his recruiter eventually reconnected in person at the Disney Programs Representative training session, and the recruiter inquired about his big day. With a wide smile, Jacob confirmed that his fiancé had indeed said yes! What surprised him most was the sweet gesture from his recruiter’s team—he had no idea the dessert had been orchestrated by them. Jacob was genuinely touched by the unexpected Disney magic sprinkled into their unforgettable day. It was a reminder of how even small gestures can create lasting moments of joy and connection in the lives of others!
