Ion Mihai Pacepa

Ion Mihai Pacepa (Romanian pronunciation: [iˈon miˈhaj paˈt͡ʃepa]; 28 October 1928 – 14 February 2021) was a Romanian two-star general in the Securitate. He worked for the secret police of Communist Romania. He defected to the United States in July 1978 following President Jimmy Carter's approval of his political asylum.

He was an advisor to President Nicolae Ceauşescu. He worked with the American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).[1]

Pacepa died on 14 February 2021 of COVID-19 in New Jersey, aged 92.[2]
