Userboxes

Hi PokestarFan! I'm afraid I've had to move your newly created userboxes to your userspace, where they belong. Please see the top of WP:UBX. Regards, Osiris (talk) 09:04, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Requests for deletion

PokestarFan, please do not close requests for deletion. For one thing, we prefer that the admins close them. For another, you didn't process it correctly and it had to be redone. Even if you had done it correctly, though, you need to concentrate on getting more basic things down, such as not having created all those TPS-related things in mainspace in the first place.

In general, please just stick to things that are normally done by non-admin users. You've been getting a lot of warnings, and I'd hate to see it result in a topic ban or worse. --Auntof6 (talk) 17:01, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

RfD nomination of The Monarch Update

An editor has requested deletion of The Monarch Update, an article you created. We appreciate your changes, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article meets Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Please comment on the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Requests for deletion/Requests/2016/The Monarch Update and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also change the article during the discussion to address the nominator's concerns. But you should not remove the requests for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you very much. iOS 9

PokestarFan, I moved this page to your userspace because it is just not ready to be in mainspace. Some of the issues are:

  • It was created with {{source}} tags. Please find sources.
  • The code name does not need to be linked, because it redirected to this page.
  • It used images that aren't on Commons, leaving stray characters in the infobox.
  • Improper formatting in the features list

Please work on this article in userspace and have someone check it becore putting it back. Thanks. --Auntof6 (talk) 00:44, 5 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Auntof6:you mean like {{subst:draft review}} or something similar? PokestarFan (talk) 00:46, 5 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) @Auntof6 Er ... I may have made a mistake. I was editing iOS 9 to try to fix some of the issues you listed when you apparently moved it, and now it's recreated in mainspace. Sorry! --Lithorien (talk) 00:48, 5 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. The version you made was good, so I restored it. --Auntof6 (talk) 00:59, 5 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No, I mean like working in a sandbox and asking someone to check it when you think it's ready (which is actually moot now). We don't have the draft review template. We also don't have the infrastructure or processes to support it, so please don't create the template, either. --Auntof6 (talk) 00:59, 5 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It is not up to you to decide to add archiving to this page. Do not add archiving to any page except your own user pages.

You have been making a lot of disruptive edits. If you don't stop, I see a block or other restriction in your future. Please try to understand how things work here before making changes. It's better to ask a lot of questions than to make the kinds of edits you keep getting told not to do. --Auntof6 (talk) 01:59, 5 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Question about revert you made

How is this vandalism? --Auntof6 (talk) 02:11, 5 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Auntof6: It messed up the infobox. PokestarFan (talk) 11:30, 5 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It updated the release information, and happened to get the parameters wrong. That is called a good faith edit, not vandalism. It would have been better to fix the parameters, or at least revert the changes in a way that doesn't say they were vandalism. --Auntof6 (talk)
@Auntof6: Oh. PokestarFan (talk) 20:58, 5 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

RfD nominations

Let me start by saying we don't really have a good editing tutorial. Other editors wouldn't bother correcting you unless they wanted you to learn. So keep that in mind. Both your recent nominations to delete pages didn't show a good understanding of the guidelines. Talk:Melody Thomas Scott was a talk page, which we don't delete without deleting the article. In this case the original editor followed the guideline Wikipedia:How to copy from another Wikipedia by adding transwiki attribution (giving credit to the editors who contributed to the original article). The other, 22nd century is still at RfD, but most of the editors who have expressed an opinion have said it should be kept. It might be better right now to watch and learn how RfDs work. And keep notes of what is mentioned there. It can be a really good way to learn your way around. You were given a welcome message, which I see is now in your archives. In it you'll find good links to read and reread. They will help you learn how Wikipedia works. I patrolled one of your new pages this morning, Show, don't tell, and I thought you got off to a pretty good start. For now I'd suggest learning how to create better and better articles. BTW, you're still welcome! User:Rus793 (talk) 21:35, 5 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Welcoming Users

PokestarFan, whenever you welcome users, make sure that their changes are not vandalism. You welcomed users an IP and a user. Both users only edits were vandalism. Please be more careful in using Twinkle and welcoming users. //nepaxt 21:45, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Nepaxt:The type of welcome was the {{welcomevandal}} welcome. PokestarFan (talk) 21:47, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • In fairness, both cases were close calls as to whether they were vandalism or mistakes (and one of them may have been an unsourced GFE); the {{welcomevandal}} exists for a reason. Etamni | ✉   22:15, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
There was another IP yesterday: [1] that I immediately changed to a warning. All seven changes by IP to Saint Peter were incorrect; changing title in infobox to say Saint Pete and changing age of death to 12, and slang names for a Saint. As for Bernie Madoff, saying he is dead with a date and by suicide of hanging is certainly not a good reason to welcome and encourage these type of edits. And Bernie Madoff originally received a straight-out welcome by PokestarFan. After I changed it a day late stating a warning would now be stale, then PokestarFan added the warning welcome template. Vandals make fun of us anyway as it is. If we thank them, well.. Again, why a fast entire welcome? Just a beginning level warning would be cautious. These are not yet article writers. Fylbecatulous talk 22:45, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Fylbecatulous: I get it. PokestarFan (talk) 22:54, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Etamni and Fylbecatulous. Please be more cautious. I'll just assume good faith and presume that you didn't know. By the way, I like your anime drawings. //nepaxt 01:11, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) Just as a reminder, PokestarFan, you've been warned quite a few times. Please realize that people are trying to help you. I know you've been told about the one strike policy. I don't want to see it used against you, and I don't think anyone else here wants to see it done either. Please take this as just one editor trying to help you before it's too late. --Lithorien (talk) 01:26, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Problems with your recent changes, and a warning

I have had to undo or fix several of your recent changes.

  • You created a category called "Degrees". The word "degree" can mean a lot of different things, so this was not a good category name. The correct term for this (as shown by the article with the correct name) is "academic degrees". I moved the category to the correct name and moved all the contents to the new category.
  • You created a category called "Entertainers from the United States". We already had a category for this, Category:American entertainers. Before creating any article or category, you should check to be sure that one doesn't already exist, keeping in mind that it might have a different name than the one you are thinking of. I deleted this category.
  • Besides creating the incorrect entertainer category, you added it to Category:Entertainers from Denver, Colorado. That category was already in Category:Entertainers from Denver, Colorado, which is in Category:American entertainers. That was overcategorization, and I removed the category you added.
  • You moved the page Greenville to Greenville (disambiguation). When there are two pages like this for disambiguation, the one with the "(disambiguation)" qualifier should be the redirect, not the other way around. I fixed it to go the right way.

Besides these, there are many messages on your talk page about similar things. There are other problematic changes you made that I think never got mentioned on your talk page, such as other inappropriate categories you created. A lot of editors have had to take time to explain things to you, and it has become disruptive.

This can't continue. I suggest you slow down, take time to watch how other editors do things here, and learn from that. Read our policies and procedures so that you understand what is appropriate and what isn't. Ask whatever questions you have about any of that. Then I highly recommend that when you want to make a change or create something, you run it by someone else first. If you don't do this, and you continue making disruptive changes, you will be blocked. --Auntof6 (talk) 02:16, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Topic/interaction ban

Due to the continued concerns by several editors here, as ridiculous as it sounds, I am banning you from welcoming all editors, be it anonymous or registered. This topic ban applies whether you use the welcome templates or not. This ban will last 1 week (it will end on 14 Feb, 03:00 UTC). Please take the time to read more about our rules and guidelines, and help out more with editing articles on this Wikipedia. Chenzw  Talk  03:12, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Advice

Hello PokestarFan, I hope you are well. I don't think we've been introduced, I'm Yottie and I have been an editor here for several years. I am writing to you, first of all to thank you for the added structure to the River Avon, Bristol article. I corrected a few more things (such as making the title bold). Don't forget these next time! ;)

I would also recommend not adding a no sources template to such a short article (like you did here), when it takes only a couple of minutes to find a reference online. It isn't difficult, and it helps improve the wiki. It also avoids creating more work for other people :)

Keep up the good work and eventually you will learn how things are done on Wikipedia. Regards, Yottie =talk= 14:31, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Quick deletion of River Aaron, Bristol

The page you wrote, River Aaron, Bristol, has been selected for quick deletion for multiple reasons. Please see the page to see the specific reasons. If you think this page should be kept, please add {{wait}} below the line {{QD}} and say why on the talk page. If the page is already gone, but you think this was an error, you can ask for it to be undeleted. PokestarFan (talk) 14:38, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

February 2016

You have been blocked from changing Wikipedia for 24 hours for violating your topic ban on welcoming users.

Once the block has ended you can make helpful changes. Please read Wikipedia's blocking policy and remember that adding spam, making changes that do not have a neutral point of view, making personal attacks on others, not respecting other people's privacy, and vandalizing pages are not allowed. If you do any of these things, you will be blocked again.

If you think this block is unfair, you can ask to be unblocked by adding {{Unblock|your reason here}} below. If you cannot do this or the reason is private please send an e-mail to simple-admins-l@lists.wikimedia.org and an administrator will look at your reason and reply. You may want to read our guide to unblock requests before asking to be unblocked. Auntof6 (talk) 22:25, 7 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
