Richard Brooks
American screenwriter, film director and producer (1912-1992)
Richard Brooks (May 18, 1912 – March 11, 1992) was an American screenwriter. He was also a movie director, novelist and film producer. He got eight Oscar nominations. Notable works are Blackboard Jungle (1955), Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958), Elmer Gantry (1960), In Cold Blood (1967) and Looking for Mr. Goodbar (1977). He won an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for Elmer Gantry. Brooks worked with Mark Hellinger and Warner Brothers. Later he worked with MGM and worked independently.
