Do you guys sometimes fantasy about what race would keep what fiber animal?

In my opinion Orcs should have fiber goats. Nice fiber, durable asshole animal, amazing horns you could use for other things too, AMAZING cheese! Big eboug to ride them into battle?

Humans probably sheep, simple and fluffy.

Halflings maybe angora rabbits? 🤔 But big enough to ride and to carry carriages .

For elves... Silk? Spider silk in particular? Would fit the wood theme... Right?

Trolls should have mammoths, imagine a troll shearing a mammoth!

But what if the races live in different parts of the world? Halflings in antarctic settings? (probably still rabbits)

Would orks have lamas, elves with camels?

Dwarfs with yaks?

Who has bisons and spinns with quvuit?

Dvarves could also use metals as fine as fiber...

Maybe trades with driders? Centaurs working with their own hair?

What entirely new animal could be a fitting fiber animal? Birds? Cows? Fiber DRAGONS!?!?

Please discuss, I really want to hear what you think about this!

You’ve seen the post with the analysis of the Southern Air tribe business based entirely on flying bison yarn right?

I also think that Orcs could rock a mangalitza pig, and halflings OR elves could do wonders with possums

The underfur of worgs, harvested when they blow their coats two or three times a year, is spun into a soft, durable, and incredibly warm fiber. A double layer of worgfur cloth is a plus to any armor, as well as ample padding to any armor strapped on top of it.

Yes. More!

I'm now stuck on the mental image of giant angora rabbits drawing dainty carriages...

Not the mammoths? 😂

Bear fluff for druids maybe?

In the D&D setting I designed, the humans hated and feared goats, believing them demonic agents and contaminated by evil because the orcs and goblins raised them as their primary meat/dairy/leather/fiber animal. Humans had sheep and cattle. There was some overlap on pigs, but the breeds favored by orcs and goblins were regarded as feral and disgusting by humans. Likewise, the orcs and goblins never bothered to try to keep the fussy, delicate, docile breeds the humans favored. They might steal livestock in a raid, but only because it was easier to drive the animals to slaughter than to carry them.

I had a whole thing on animal husbandry and prejudices that the players never got into.

Your campaign sounds so awesome!?!? If I ever play DnD can I steal it!?

I second this. That's some amazing detailed worldbuilding you got there

I saw your post and immediately remembered drawing this, but so long ago I can’t remember the story, exactly. It was a follow up after this one:

I remember the disaster with these troublemaking brownies trying to shear the flying goats, but I think the idea of moving on to something safer like  … woolly mammoths? never quite got off the ground. As it were.

I just got distracted and drew page after page of woolly mammoths and forgot about the brownies completely.

I get sort of stupid about woolly mammoths.

Anyway, thank you for reminding me how much I love this idea. It is good to go through the old sketches again and remember things. And want to do this again. More. I want to draw everything in your post.
