What I Wore for Our 15th A-Day Date & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #741
Jeff and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary on Thursday, January 23, 2025. Since his retirement from the Army four years ago, we have settled into a really nice anniversary tradition. If it falls on a weekday, Jeff takes off from work so we can spend the day together. Nine of our first eleven anniversaries, we were hundreds to thousands of miles away from each other due to his military obligations so now Jeff won’t miss an anniversary for anything and I am here for it! Over the years, the anniversaries all start to blend together, especially when they are spent apart from one another. But I do specifically remember…

Style Imitating Art | “Maude Adams (1872–1953) as Joan of Arc” by Alphonse Mucha
I am not a big fan of the color peach. Unless it’s on a peach. Then it is actually quite the perfect color. But on my clothes, it’s not my jam. Ooh, but if the peach is in my jam, then it is definitely my jam. On a nice warm piece of fresh homemade sourdough bread. Yum. But here I am wearing a very bright shade of peach. Marsha’s last art pick pushed me into these peachy colors, too. That’s what makes these style challenges so interesting. They force me to look at my wardrobe differently and get more creative with the pieces in my closet. They challenge me to…

The Best Hat Ever & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #740
Back in September, Jeff and I attended the Adirondack Wool & Arts Festival in Greenwich, New York, on the way home from our date weekend in Troy, New York. There were so many talented folks sharing so many beautiful creations that I struggled to choose just one thing to bring home as a souvenir. As I circled through the booths, my desire for all the things kept growing which makes it impossible to decide on any one thing. So I would take a business card and continue on my way waiting for the perfect thing to grab my attention or make a decision after I shopped all the booths. When…

“January is for Resting” & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #739
I was talking to my sister Lori yesterday and we were both complaining about how mentally, emotionally, and physically exhausted we are. It happens to us every January. The long, cold, dark days have tremendous impact on our moods and our energy levels. Thirty years ago, our father passed away on January 22. For the first fifteen years following his death, January was almost unbearable. It seemed like it would never end as we approached that dreadful anniversary every year. So fifteen years ago, Jeff and I decided to get married on January 23 because I needed something positive and happy to cheer me out of my January grief. It…

The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book: Grayish Greys
January has more gray days than most months for many of us so this month we are celebrating the grayish greys in our closets. The Good Buy/Good-Bye Book is a monthly series hosted by Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style and myself. Every month, we invite you to share a photo or two of your Good (or Bad) Buy items that fit the stated theme. We ask that you also provide a short description explaining if the item you are sharing was a Good Buy or one that you will be saying Good-Bye to (formerly known as Bad Buys). Nancy and I will both publish a round up post featuring all of the submissions on the…

Style Imitating Art | Layered Sand Art by Andrew Clemens
It is time for me to start getting dressed again! I have spent most of the holiday break in my comfiest, coziest, warmest, loungiest clothes parked right in front of my blazing fireplace. It has been very snowy and exceptionally cold which has driven me further indoors with little desire to step outside. But now it is time to get up, get dressed, get out, and get stuff done. So here we go… About Style Imitating Art Style Imitating Art is hosted by Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey, Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge, and Marsha of Marsha in the Middle. Fashion Faux Blah & #SpreadTheKindness Link Up On the Edge #738
A fashion faux pas. A false step. A style mistake. A bit of the blah. It can happen to anyone. Even the most style savvy and fashion forward folks can create unsavory outfit combinations. In this case, I don’t think I necessarily made a literal fashion faux pas as this outfit is wearable without being entirely terrible. It is more of a fashion faux blah. While I often rely on a black column of clothing beneath my kimono robes, this particular black column was a bit too much and resulted in very unflattering photographs. But I am sharing them anyway because this is real life. Some days you look great…
